Late last night, Event 24: $5,000 Omaha Hi-Low Split 8-or-Better concluded with two players remaining, forcing the event to be extended for a fourth day. The two remaining players are Joe Cassidy and Scotty Nguyen.

Going into the heads-up match, Cassidy has the lead over Nguyen with three million in chips to Nguyen's 845,000. When the players return, there will be approximately 20 minutes left in Level 28 with the blinds 25,000/50,000 and the limits 50,000/100,000.

This is the closest Cassidy has come to winning a bracelet. His previous best finish in a World Series of Poker event came in 2004 when he took fourth in the $1,500 Limit Hold'em SHootout. Nguyen, on the other hand, already holds five WSOP gold bracelets and will have the experience on his side. You can read more about today's event and the others that will be completing in the latest edition of the PokerNews What To Watch For.

Play is schedule to resume at 2:00 PM. Will this be Cassidy's first-ever gold bracelet or will we see a comeback and number six for Nguyen? Stay tuned to PokerNews to find out.

First Showdown

From the button Joe Cassidy raised it up and Scotty Nguyen made the call from the big blind.

The flop came down {6-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Nguyen bet, Cassidy called. The turn, the {8-Clubs}, and the river, the {10-Hearts}, were checked after which we went to showdown.

Nguyen showed {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} for the winning low while Cassidy tabled {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{K-Clubs}{5-Spades} for the high. Chop it up!
