Seidel Triples Up and Eames is Out

A quick round up towards the end of Level 4.

Erik Seidel was having a chow down at his table. In front of him were a meagre 575 chips. A few bites later and they went into the middle in first position. Two players made the call, Seidel hit a set of nines and he now has around 1,950.

It's an early bath for John Eames. The man who thought he was playing in the seniors event has just been eliminated. He lost the most of his chips {7-} {7-} versus {K-} {K-} and was eliminated soon after.

Salman Behbehani has a shoving stack. He lost a flip {6-} {6-} versus {A-} {K-} and then we saw him get his last chips in during this hand. The player under the gun raised to 300, there was one caller before Behbehani moved all-in from the small blind for 875. The initial raiser called and the caller folded.

Under The Gun{K-Clubs} {Q-Spades}
Behbehani{Q-Diamonds} {9-Hearts}

So Behehani was in a bit of a mess, but the board was on hand to help him out.

Board: {Q-Hearts} {J-Spades} {2-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {A-Spades}

The ace on the river splitting the spot and giving Behbehani a reprieve.

Moorman & Akkari Out; Shorr and Affleck Are Up

Chris Moorman was riding pretty low the last time we made a sweep of the Brasilia room and we can now confirm that he is out. His exit came in a blind on blind match-up. His opponent in the small blind, Dale Curtis, called with {K-} {J-} and Moorman moved all-in with {5-Clubs} {2-Clubs}. Curtis called and his hand held up to put Moorman out of his misery.

Andre Akkari is out and we believe it was an all-in pre flop confrontation {A-} {Q-} versus {A-} {K-}. Nacho Barbero and Nick Yunis have takens eats on Akkari's former table.

You cannot miss Steven Van Zadelhoff because he has a bright orange fedora sitting pretty on top of his bounce. Zadelhoff has thirteen WSOP cashes and we just caught him doubling up to 3,400 chips {A-Clubs} {A-Spades} versus {A-Hearts} {9-Hearts} all-in pre flop.

Two other players who are the way up are Matt Affleck and Shannon Shorr. Affleck is up to 11,500 after a series of coolers (full-house versus trips and flopped straight versus top pair!). Shorr is up to 5,300 after doubling up with the mighty deuces. Shorr moving all-in from the small blind, after a player in mid-position had raised to 350. The initial raiser called and it was a case of {2-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} versus {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}. The {2-Spades} on the flop making the voyage across the rest of the board a lot more comfortable for Shorr.

A Pot For Mizrachi and Geiger's Dreams Are Over

We joined the action on a flop of {5-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {2-Spades} with 2,200 in the pot and Eric Mizrachi looking like he was participating in a tournament defining hand. The pot was heads-up and Mizrachi's opponent moved 1,100 into the middle. It was an all-in call for Mizrachi, which he made, and he was ahead when the cards were turned over.

Mizrachi{J-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}
Opponent{10-Spades} {10-Hearts}

The turn {3-Clubs} and river {8-Spades} confirming Mizrachi's mini triumph and he moves up to 4,400 chips.

In other news the professor from Tampa, Scott Geiger, has been eliminated {A-} {10-} v {5-} {5-}. Maybe next year Scott…maybe next year.

Level 3 Round-Up

Jameson Painter has had 8 World Series of Poker (WSOP) cashes in the past three-years but he is yet to cash thus far in 2012. Of those 8 cashes Painter has recorded an 8th, 7th, 5th & 4th place finish for a combined WSOP cash score of $241,140. He was just kind enough to tell us that he was responsible for the elimination of Jonathon Kalmar and here it is.

Kalmar raised to 125 from the button and Painter made the call in the small blind. The action checked through to the turn on a board of {J-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {3-Clubs} when it all kicked off. Painter bet 200, Kalmar raised to 525, Painter moved all-in and Kalmar called.

Painter{5-} {5-}
Kalmar{A-Clubs} {4-Clubs}

So the flopped set versus the turned flush draw and gutterball. The river bricked for Kalmar and he was out.

In other news we have spotted WSOP bracelet holder Andrew Badecker wearing yellow shades today, WSOP bracelet holder John Juanda has moved to the direct right of Kyle Weir and we believe Roberto Romanello is out.

2012 WSOP final tablist John Eames has 2,600 and he asked us if he was in the wrong event, "Is this the seniors event?" Asked Eames, in response to the collection of more mature poker students on his table. Not sure the Hendon Mobster Ross Boatman will take too kindly to that comment though. Boatman has 16 WSOP cashes, 3 WSOP final tables and is seated two chairs to the right of Eames.

Leo Margets is Out

We reported earlier that Leo Margets got her chips into the middle in the first few hands of the day. She has just done the same again, only this time the outcome was reversed and fatal.

We caught the action with Margets on her feet. The dealer was counting her stack to see if she had any chips remaining. She was all-in pre flop holding {9-Hearts} {9-Spades} and her conqueror was holding {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts}. The board showed {4-Spades} {6-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} and after the count was confirmed Margets was out.

The Globetrotter Kara Scott

The globetrotter Kara Scott has finally landed in Vegas. We believe this is only her second event and she has already run into some trouble early doors. Scott, who has 5 World Series of Poker (WSOP) cashes to her name, and was easily one of the busiest people at last years WSOP (as the amazing anchor for ESPN), has just tweeted that she lost most of her chips with a straight flush draw that bricked. Scott is down to 14BB.

Table #20: WSOP Bracelet Holders Duhamel & Polychronopoulos

Two World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet holders Jonathan Duhamel and Athanasios Polychronopoulos are seated together at Table #20 and both have had great starts to the day. Polychronopoulos won Event #48: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em in 2011 and Duhamel was our Main Event champion back in 2010.

Polychronopoulos has 13,000 chips and told us that there weren't any real stand out hands, instead he just grinded his way up in a series of small pots. Duhamel has 9,400 chips and Polychronopoulos was kind enough to tell us about his first double up hand. He told us that Duhamel had rivered aces-full on a board of {A-} {7-} {6-} {6-} {9-} and moved all-in and an older Englishman, who talked a lot, wore glasses and was called Barry made the call. That fits the description of legendary Hendon Mobster Barny Boatman to a tee...well except for the talkative part, Barny is as quiet as a mouse.

Postnote: Barny Boatman confirmed that it was him in the hand versus Duhamel and he also had a full-house.
