Jeremy Quehen Eliminated in 2nd Place ($429,535)

Jeremy Quehen - 2nd
Jeremy Quehen - 2nd

Joey Weissman has just become a World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner and this is how it went down.

Weissman raised to 240,000 and Jeremy Quehen made the call. The flop was {Q-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {3-Clubs} and Quehen decided to lead with a bet of 350,000. The motion took Weissman a little by surprise but he made the call. The turn card was the {7-Hearts} and Quehen continued his assault with a 800,000 bet. Weissman was riffling a pile of orange 5k chips while he pondered his next move, which was to make the call. The final card in this amazing hand was the {J-Hearts}.

"2 million," said Quehen before moving four towers of green 25k chips across the line.

Back to Weissman and he really did look nervous. Then when everyone was expecting him to fold he announced that he was all-in. Quehen called instantly and Weissman threw the {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} onto the felt and the whole place went nuts. Weissman was swarmed by his fans (and the dog) and he was so deep under we couldn't see him. What an amazing comeback from a man who had led for the entire day. Commiserations to Jeremy Quehen who we are sure we will see again in the very near future.

"Tonight we are getting fu**ed up!" Shouted Weissman's friend.

Good for you lot, you deserve it.

A Confident Quehen Takes The Chip Lead

Joey Weissman & Jeremy Quehen
Joey Weissman & Jeremy Quehen

Oh, how quick things can change in poker. The atmosphere has changed from a super charged American sing-song to a French revolution. The once super-confident Joey Weissman looks nervous and down beaten, and his once charming rail are now throwing insults at the young Frenchman, who is soaking in every word and growing in stature and confidence. The red, white and blue is now bleu, bleu, bleu!

Quehen raised to 200,000, Weissman three-bet to 500,000, Qehen made it 1,000,000 and Weissman folded. Quehen showed the room the lone {2-Clubs} which resulted in a few comments from the rail.

Then Weissman raised to 200,00 and Quehen made the call. The flop contained more clubs than the streets of Ibiza Town - {A-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {2-Clubs}. Quehen checked, Weissman bet 250, Quehen check-raised to 650,000 and Weissman called. The turn was the {Q-Diamonds} and Quehen made a bet of 750,000; Weissman called. The final card was the {3-Diamonds} and this time Quehen made it 1,750,000 (the biggest bet we have seen bar an all-in) and Weissman made the call.

Quehen leapt to his feet and threw the {Q-Clubs} {8-Clubs} triumphantly onto the table. The French rail rose in unison and French chants filled the air. Quehen is the new chip leader with 9.2 million and it is the first time for a very long time that Weissman has had to play with the inferior stack.

Fernando Brito Eliminated in 3rd Place ($282,676)

Fernando Brito - 3rd
Fernando Brito - 3rd

Fernando Brito just went on a surge, that for a short while looked like it was driving him into contention in this three way battle. But if he was really going to get serious he needed to win a big showdown and when it mattered the most, the cards let him down.

Brito shut down both Weissman and then Quehen with three-bets pre flop before he was facing one himself. It was Weissman who pulled it out of the bag and Brito called bringing us to a flop of {9-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {5-Diamonds}. Weissman bet 400,000 and Brito moved all-in.

"What do you have?" puzzled Weissman before folding.

So the momentum was very much with Brito when he once again three-bet pre flop. Once again it was Weissman and he moved all-in. Brito called and we had the showdown that Brito needed to cement his progress with an accumulation of serious chips.

Weissman{A-Clubs} {J-Hearts}
Brito{9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}

The flop brought some oohs and aahs from the crown when some of them mistook the queen for a jack - {Q-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}. The turn card was the {J-Clubs} and the crowd once again was maniacal. This time, however, Weissman remained unmoved. The river card was the {7-Diamonds} and it was over for Brito. A very sporting Weissman heading over to Brito to console him before heading to the rail for the jubilant high-fives (and the low paw for the mutt).

Quehen Gets There

Jeremy Quehen winning on the river
Jeremy Quehen winning on the river

Joey Weissman raised it up to 120,000 from the button and Jeremy Quehen three-bet to 320,000. After a few moments of contemplation Joey Weissman moved all in and Quehen quickly called.

Quehen: {A-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Weissman: {A-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

The board came {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and with the seven on the river Quehen hit his straight and stole the hand from Weissman.

Philip Meulyzer Eliminated in 4th Place ($203,781)

Philip Meulyzer - 4th
Philip Meulyzer - 4th

Our chip leader had just lost a few pots to Jeremy Quehen when this happened…

Joey Weissman raised to 120,000 in the cutoff and Jeremy Quehen three-bet to 330,000 from the small blind (this was the third time that Quehen had three-bet Weissman in succession). Fernando Brito moved out of the way in the small blind but Philip Meulyzer didn't want to move anywhere except into the thick of the action. He pushed his 1.1 million chips across the line indicating he was all in.

Weissman looked at his cards, then at Quehen before he announced he was all-in. Quehen folded and we had a showdown.

Weissman{A-Spades} {K-Spades}
Meulyzer{10-Spades} {10-Clubs}

The flop was {J-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {3-Spades} but you could barely hear the commentator over the bedlam coming out of the Weissman rail. The turn card was the {9-Spades} and the crowd were sucking Weissman's outs out of the deck. We looked at Weissman and we are sure a smile perked up on his face…he knew it was coming! The {K-Clubs} on the river sent Weissman reeling to the rail and the rail went nuts. Absolutely everyone was jumping up and down except for the dog. Yes, you heard right, there is a dog in the rail!

Bradley Lipsey Eliminated in 5th Place ($149,162)

Bradley Lipsey
Bradley Lipsey

Jeremy Quehen opened from under the gun and made it 120,000. Action folded around to Bradley Lipsey in the small blind who three-bet to 350,000. Joey Weissman in the big blind then four-bet all in. Quehen got out of the way and Lipsey snap called.

Weissman: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}
Lipsey: {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

The board came {A-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and with that Lipsey was our fifth place finisher.

Philip Meulyzer Takes His Turn to Double Up

Philip Meulyzer losing and then winning
Philip Meulyzer losing and then winning

Philip Meulyzer has just shipped half of his stack to Bradley Lipsey and here he is getting it back from Joey Weissman. Meulyzer moved all-in from first position and Weissman also moved all-in from the button. Both blinds folded and we had a flip with Meulyzer at risk of elimination.

Meulyzer{A-Clubs} {K-Spades}
Weissman{J-Clubs} {J-Hearts}

The flop was {10-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {3-Spades} prompting a huge cheer from the American side of the rail, but the {A-Spades} was met with grunts and groans. The {9-Hearts} hit the river and Meulyzer had doubled up.

Lipsey Doubles Through Weissman

Brad Lipsey doubles through Weissman
Brad Lipsey doubles through Weissman

The action folded around to Bradley Lipsey in the small blind and at last there was someone who wanted to tango with Weissman. Lipsey making it 90,000 and Weissman calling. The flop was {Q-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} and Lipsey checked to Weissman who stared in his direction. After getting some sort of a read from Lipsey's grey hood, Weissman decided to bet 90,000. Back to Lipsey and he moved all-in and Weissman quickly called.

Lipsey{A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}
Weissman{K-Spades} {9-Clubs}

So Lipsey held top pair, Weissman held second pair and Lipsey was looking good for the double up.

The turn {J-Hearts} and river {A-Spades} resulting in a fist pump from Lipsey and he doubled up through our dominant chip leader.

Michael Gagliano Eliminated in 7th Place ($83,428)

Michael Gagliano - 7th
Michael Gagliano - 7th

Michael Gagliano had only just doubled up when he found himself in another milestone of a hand. Let's take a peek at what happened.

Bradley Lipsey raised to 85,000 in first position, Joey Weissman made the call from his left shoulder and Michael Gagliano made the call in the big blind. The flop was {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {4-Hearts} and the action checked through to Weissman who bet 125,000. Gagliano was next and he tanked before check-raising to 300,000. The grey-hooded Lipsey laid it down and the original bettor, Weissman, raised it up to 495,000!

There was a silence surrounding the table as the voyeurs realised that this pot was pretty serious. Gagliano riffled his newly won chips and pondered his next move. About two minutes elapsed before Gagliano moved all-in and Weissman called.

Weissman{A-Spades} {Q-Hearts}
Gagliano{A-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}

So Gagliano revealed top pair with a jack kicker and Weissman had him crushed with top two pair. The turn was the {A-Hearts} and Weissman turned to his fans - who were delirious - and moved his forearm back and fore in delight. The rather irrelevant {3-Hearts} was dumped onto the felt and the gracious Gagliano embraced Weissman before leaving in 7th place.
