Day 3 of Event 52, $2,500 Ten Game Mix Six-Handed, of the World Series of Poker has wrapped up after three long days of play. The event began with 420 other hopefuls and it’s Vanessa Selbst standing alone at the end of play with her second WSOP bracelet and $244,259.

Selbst is the first woman to win an open bracelet event since she won her first bracelet in a 2008 $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha event. Selbst earned all but one elimination at the final table. She is the sixth woman to have multiple bracelets; she joins Barbara Enright, Nani Dollison, Jennifer Harmana, Susie Isaacs and Starla Brodie.

Day 3 saw 19 players return to play down to a winner. Within three levels the field was trimmed down one table. Scott Clements was eliminated in 8th place, making this event the second final table he bubbled this series.

The field combined to one table on the stage in the Pavilion Room seven-handed and after only ten minutes of play Julian Renard was eliminated. Selbst sent Renard packing while playing a round of Stud Hi. Selbst made two pair and Renard only held a pair of eights.

The next elimination occurred during Pot Limit Omaha and Mike Gorodinsky got all his chips in on the flop. Gorodinsky held {K-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} and Selbst tabled {A-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {4-Spades}. The board completed {K-Spades} {4-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {X-} and Selbst made a flush and sent Gorodinsky to the rail.

Another 30 minutes would pass before Selbst sent another to the rail. This time the game was Razz. Thomas Chambers was short stacked and made an ace low and Selbst found her way to a nine eight low. Chamber was eliminated in 5th place.

Chris Bjorin was the next to hit the rail during a round of Limit Hold’em. Selbst opened with two bets and Bjorin made it thee bets from the small blind. Selbst made it four bets and Bjorin called – leaving him with just 3,000 behind. The flop came {6-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}, Bjorin tossed in his chips and Selbst called. Bjorin held {K-Clubs} {Q-Spades} and Selbst had {A-Diamonds} {7-Clubs}. The board completed {J-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} and Selbst earned another knockout.

Tommy Hang had stayed out of the way for most of the final table and then he got committed in a hand of Stud. Michael Saltzburg did the dirty work this time, letting Selbst catch a breather. Saltzburg made a full house of jacks full of threes and Hang was drawing dead at sixth street. Hang was eliminated in third place.

Selbst and Saltzburg entered heads up play with Selbst holding 2.64 million and Saltzburg had 516,000. The pair played one full round of 2-7 No Limit Single Draw that saw Selbst take five of the six hands played in that round.

Saltzburg then survived a round of Omaha Hi Low 8-Or-Better that saw him get quartered on the low and left him with very few chips.

The next round of 2-7 Limit Triple Draw would see them play just a couple hands before Selbst sealed her victory. The first round saw Saltzburg draw two cards and Selbst just one. The next round saw them both stand pat and Selbst table the nuts with {7-} {5-} {4-} {3-}{2-} for the win.

2-7 Limit Triple Draw

The last hand of the tournament began with Vanessa Selbst opening the button. Michael Saltzburg called and then drew two. Selbst drew one and then Saltzburg led with a bet. Selbst then raised and Saltzburg called. Both players stood pat and then Saltzburg was all in for his last remaining chips.

At this point, Selbst quickly tabled {7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}, holding the nuts. Saltzburg could do nothing but stare at the felt as Selbst was out of her chair waiting for Saltzburg's cards to go in the muck. That's exactly where they went, and Selbst was over to her rail to celebrate.

With that, Saltzburg goes home in a very gallant second place, collecting $150,849, while Selbst wins her second World Series of Poker gold bracelet, solidifying herself as one of poker's greats.

Omaha

The last hand of Mike Gorodinsky's tournament was during a round of Omaha. It was Vanessa Selbst who dealt the fatal blow to Gorodinsky, with Gorodinsky getting all his chips in on a {k-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop.

Gorodinsky held {k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} for two-pair, while Selbst held {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{4-Spades} for plenty of draws. The {5-Hearts} on the turn was the gin card for Selbst, giving her the straight-flush wheel. At this point Gorodinsky shook his opponent's hands and left as he was drawing dead.

Selbst is currently sitting with a huge chip lead, having more than two times the amount of her nearest competitor.

Scott Clements Eliminated in 8th Place ($21,645)

Stud

It has taken two hands to see Scott Clements eliminated on the bubble of the "unofficial" final table of seven. The first hand that left him crippled saw him check-raised on seventh street by Chris Bjorin. At the end, the hands looked like this.

Bjorin: Board - {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{5-Spades}{9-Hearts} / Hole - {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Clements: Board - {7-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{5-Clubs} / Hole - {k-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}

Clements held a straight to the seven, while Bjorin managed to hold a straight to the king. The very next hand saw Clements all in during the first round of betting, having to come up against Thomas Chambers.

Clements: {7-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} / {9-Hearts}{j-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{8-Clubs} / {8-Clubs}
Chambers: {k-Clubs}{4-Clubs} / {10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Spades} / {7-Clubs}

Chambers drew the straight and Clement's cards went into the muck as he was sent out the door in eighth place.

Matthew Ashton Eliminated in 10th Place ($16,186)

Matthew Ashton - 10th Place
Matthew Ashton - 10th Place

Matthew Ashton was left crippled just a short while ago and now he has played his last hand of poker in this tournament. The game that he was eliminated in was Stud Eight-or-Better.

Ashton was all in from the beginning of the hand and by the time his cards were all out on the felt, they looked like this {4-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts} (in no particular order) and with his river card going into the muck. That hand wasn't good enough for Thomas Chambers, who held {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades}{9-Clubs}. (in no particular order).

Ashton's elimination in 10th place leaves us with just nine players remaining.

Pot Limit Omaha

We found Vanessa Selbst and Bryn Kenney heads up at the turn. The board read {6-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {10-Clubs}, Selbst bet 34,000 and Kenney raised to 92,500.

Selbst thought for a moment and then potted. Kenney moved all in and Selbst called

Selbst: {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {2-Spades}
Kenney: {10-Spades} {10-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}

Kenney was ahead with a set of tens but Selbst hit the river when it fell {Q-Diamonds} giving her the Broadway straight.

2-7 Limit Triple Draw

Michael Saltzburg opened up the action with a raise from under the gun and Mike Wattel committed the remainder of his tiny stack on his direct left. Scott Clements then called out of the small blind and Chris Bjorin got out of the way in the big blind.

Saltzburg drew one, Wattel drew two and Clements drew three. Clements check-called a bet here and then drew two, while Saltzburg stood pat. Wattel drew two and Clements then folded when Saltzburg bet. The last draw saw Wattel draw one and Saltzburg stay pat again.

Saltzburg tabled {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs}, with his ninety-seven good enough to see Wattel's cards into the muck, flashing a jack-eight low as he did so.
