We found Joe Cada and David Chiu looking down at a board that read . With about 9,000 in the pot, Cada heaved a heavy sigh and stacked his remaining chips, moving all in.
Chiu flicked his cards into the muck the moment Cada's chips hit the felt and Cada was awarded the pot. The WSOP Main Event champion is currently sitting on 28,000.
On a flop William Reynolds just got his opponent all in for around 16,000 chips. Reynolds was in great shape and showed . His opponent had and needed a king to survive.
A couple of tables over a loud player shouted something along the lines of, "And I was drawing dead to a king! Can you believe that!".
The same scenario was going down on this table, and the turn was the . The river brought out the and Reynolds' jaw dropped. He just got rivered in the way the player on the other table survived, but luckily he was still smiling a little.
This table was already crazy as we just missed a big pot in which a player called on the river with quads. The other player showed a straight, but not the possible straight flush that was out there. The players at the table were baffled twice in a short period of time, but all still having fun.
We found Maximilian Lehmanski who finished sixth place earlier this summer in Event 31: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em engaged in a hand with an opponent.
The board read and Lehmanski's opponent moved all in for about 21,000. Lehmanski snapped with for kings full of treys and his opponent stood up and threw a drawing dead on the table. Lehmanski's opponent was already past the rail when the dealer put down the on the river, giving Lehmanski quad kings to finish out the hand.
Lehmanski is currently sitting on a stack of about 98,000.
Emil Patel opened to 2,000 from under the gun, three players called, and Alexander Kuzmin three-bet to 6,000 from the big blind, leaving less than 10,000 behind. Patel four-bet jammed for around 60,000, and the two callers mucked.
Patel
Kuzmin
The flop gave Kuzmin a pair of jacks, but the on the turn gave Patel a diamond-flush, and an uneatable hand. The completed the board, and Kuzmin was eliminated.
Yevgeniy Timoshenko opened to 2,100 from the cutoff and received a call from the player in the big blind.
A flop was shown to the two players and Timoshenko's opponent checked. Timoshenko put out a c-bet of 2,700 and his opponent called. The paired the board on the turn and it was checked to Timoshenko again. This time the magic number was 6,200 and the price was too high for Timoshenko's opponent. The fold awarded Timoshenko the pot and his stack is currently around 65,000.
We caught up to find Matt Marafioti all in for his tournament life against Jason Mercier. After Marafioti shoved, he tweeted the following:
Adzizzy Matthew MarafiotiAll in right now verse a raise and a reraise with AKo in the 10k 6max. Mercier just reshoved. I am probably going to lose. #FunTournamentJuly 03 2012
In the end it was revealed that Mercier held and was racing with Marafioti's . Marafioti spiked an ace on the flop and was able to bring his stack up to about 50,000.
A player opened to 2,000 from early position, Ludovic Lacay three-bet to 5,200 from the blinds, and his opponent called. The flop fell , and both players checked. The turn was the , and Lacay led out for 5,800. His opponent called.
The completed the board, and Lacay led again - this time for 15,600. His opponent tanked for nearly a minute, then called. Lacay shook his head, signifying that he had nothing, and his opponent opened up .
Lacay turned to his neighbor Lex Veldhuis for some moral support, and Veldhuis offered the following: "We're in America, buddy. F*** our lives."
Nick Petrangelo, who Haralabos Voulgaris has been calling "Nate," three-bet jammed over an open from Carter Phillips. Phillips called, and the hands were opened.
Petrangelo
Phillips
The flop gave Phillips a pair of aces, but Petrangelo still had a gut-shot straight draw. The on the turn took away one of Petrangelo's outs, and the completed the board, eliminating him from the tournament.
