Biography

Cada was born in Shelby Charter Township, Michigan on November 18, 1987. He started playing online poker as a teenager, and at 19 he regularly traveled across the US-Canada border to play at a casino in Windsor, Ontario.

2009 WSOP Main Event

Already an experienced poker player, at the age of 21 he traveled to Las Vegas for his first WSOP. He cashed twice during the festival before finishing Day 1C of the Main Event as the chip leader.

He made it to the final table fifth in chips, with amateur poker player Darvin Moon in the lead.

Before the November final table came around, Joe continued his good run by winning a tournament at the 2009 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) for $128,872 in prize money.

On his return to Vegas, he battled hard at a final table featuring Phil Ivey, and took down the Main Event. Cada won a huge payday of $8,546,435. At just 21-years of age, he also became the youngest Main Event winner in history, a record set the year before by Peter Eastgate.

Having signed with PokerStars prior to the Main Event final table, Cada left Team PokerStars five years later in 2014.

2018 World Series of Poker (WSOP)

Cada has been a regular at the WSOP since his Main Event victory, winning a second bracelet in 2014 in the prestigious $10,000 Six-Max Championship.

However, in 2018 he finished fourth in the Player of the Year standings after bagging two more bracelets and managing to make a second WSOP Main Event final table.

Cada became the first former champion to make it back to the final table since 1995 champion Dan Harrington accomplished the feat in both 2003 and 2004.
