"Who Puts in Eight Millions Bets With That Hand?"

There are probably two players remaining in today's event who could say something like this, and it wasn't Mike Matusow. That's right, Phil Hellmuth just jumped up from his chair and burned his opponent, Barry Hartheimer, down pretty hard after losing a big pot.

The board read {6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{10-Spades} when Hellmuth had put in a raise and Hartheimer called. The river brought out the {A-Clubs}. Hellmuth bet out straight away and Hartheimer raised. "Call," Hellmuth snapped to his opponent who turned over {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{Q-Spades} for the broadway straight.

Hellmuth stood up from his chair and under a second later he exploded. "What the f...," Hellmuth swallowed his words before getting into penalty trouble. "I knew your were gonna give me all your chips! I let you win five hands and now you do this? How can you get this far in a tournament?," he added not even looking for an answer. "Dumb luck Phil, just dumb luck," Hartheimer replied calmly.

Hellmuth showed {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{J-Spades}{9-Spades} for the turned nuts and the flopped nut flush draw. "Does he get everything?," Hellmuth said steaming as he was looking for a way to get at least some of his chips back. "Yes I do," Hartheimer said with a smile. "Who puts in eight millions bets with that hand?," he ranted on as the dealer started pitching the cards. "You only lost like 9,000 Phil, take it easy," Hartheimer added to the rant that didn't seem to end. Hellmuth is still alive, but a moment like this could blur his vision and we will keep a close eye on the 11-time WSOP champ who slid his headphones and glasses back on. Back to the grind for Hellmuth who needs to regain some focus if he wants to chase number 12 in this event.

Hellmuth Wins One Quietly

Phil Hellmuth is back up to 31,000 after chopping a three-way pot.

We caught up with action on the turn where the board read {7-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. The action was checked to Hellmuth on the button and his 3,000 bet was called by both players.

It was the same deal on the {5-Hearts} river and the players made their claim for the pot.

Hellmuth: {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for the high.
Lady in mid position: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for the low.
The player in the hijack stared at his cards for a while and then mucked.

Matt Savage failed to spin up his short stack. At least he was entertained before he busted.

He Tweeted: "At least I got to see a @phil_hellmuth blow up before I bust. ‪#ItsTheLittleThingsInLife‬ http://twitvid.com/47NA5."

Closing in on the Money

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

We are nine players away from the money and the tournament director just announced to all dealer to clearly announce when a player busts out. We started today around 100 places off the money, but players have been flying out so the money will be within reach during the third level of play.

Negreanu Soaring

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu is having a great day so far and just scooped to move into six figures.

He was on the button and called a hijack raise to see a {j-Clubs}{9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} flop where he called a continuation bet. The turn came {3-Spades} and Negreanu took up the initiative with a 3,000 bet when his opponent checked to him. Call.

The {a-Hearts} river saw Negreanu bet another 3,000 and his opponent made a reluctant sounding call.

The Canadian opened {j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for a full-house.

No Money For Gork

Marc Gork just busted three spots off the money and we stood by his side as he was all in for his tournament life numerous times before finally losing his last chips.

In the first hand Gork raised all in for just 2,400 chips in early position. A player behind him raised and Todd Brunson called on the button. The flop came down {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and Brunson called a bet. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and the river the {2-Clubs}, both times Brunson called a 3,000 chip bet.

Brunson mucked his hand when his opponent showed {A-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} but Gork wasn't out yet. He tabled {A-Spades}{3-Spades}{4-Spades}{10-Clubs} and chopped the low to stay alive. He got his 2,400 chips back and broke dead even on the pot. The very next hand Gork was all in again for 2,400 and this time Dan Shak called from the small blind and Can Kim Hua called from the big blind.

The flop came down {4-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and with a bet Hua scared off Shak and got it heads up against Gork. Gork showed {A-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{Q-Spades} and took three quarters against Hua who showed {A-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts}. Both players had the nut low but Gork's straight gave him the high to get him back up to 5,500 chips. The very next hand Gork was under the gun and decided to limp. This invited a player in middle position into the pot and both blinds also stayed in to give us four way action on the flop. The flop was {A-Hearts}{8-Spades}{J-Clubs} and three players checked to the limper in middle position who bet 1,500 and only the small blind, Can Kim Hua, called. Gork tanked for a long time and folded after having invested an decent portion of his stack by limping pre flop. On the turn Hua check-folded when the {J-Diamonds} showed up and now Gork was in the big blind.

Gork ended up folding his big blind and was all in for just a few chips against the player on his left when he was in the small blind. Gork showed {K-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and said, "I need diamonds!" when he saw the {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}{3-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} he was up against. The board ran out {4-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and Gork grabbed both his and the cards of his opponent and threw them into the muck. No money for Gork who finished in 120th place.
