Lev Rofman Wins Event #12: $1,500 Pot-Limit Hold'em ($166,136)

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante
Lev Rofman - WSOP Bracelet Winner!
Lev Rofman - WSOP Bracelet Winner!

Event #12, the $1,500 Pot-Limit Hold'em, began with 535 players. After 25 levels and change, only one was left standing. Lev Rofman emerged victorious, topping the field for a first-place prize of $166,136.

Rofman began the final table fifth in chips and took a back seat to much of the early action. Short stack Jean-Nicolas Fortin busted in ninth place to chip leader Eric Crain and that was followed by Tim Reilly's elimination in eighth place.

Rofman found a key double up against Jaspal Brar before eliminating Nicolas Halvorson in seventh place. Despite starting the final table as chip leader, it was not meant to be for Eric Crain. After running into Anthony Harb's pocket aces twice, Crain found himself on a short stack and busted in sixth place to Allen Cunningham.

Anthony Harb ran into Rofman's aces to depart in fifth place, and that was followed by Kenneth Shelton's elimination in fourth place. Cunningham took care of Jaspal Brar in third place, giving him a solid 2.4:1 chip lead entering heads-up play.

Rofman fought back and closed the gap before Cunningham extended it again. Cunningham would find himself with not one, but two chances to win the bracelet. However, Rofman doubled up both times before sealing the deal on his first attempt as the bigger stack.

We hope you enjoyed our hand-for-hand coverage of this final table, and urge you to follow our coverage for the remainder of the summer as more bracelets are awarded. For now, good night from Las Vegas!

Hand #236- Allen Cunningham called, and Lev Rofman made it 120,000. Cunningham called, and the flop came {9-Spades}{j-Spades}{5-Spades}. From there, Rofman bet 240,000, and Cunningham moved all in for about 775,000, and Rofman made the call.

Cunningham: {k-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Rofman: {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

Both players had king high and flush draws, but Rofman was out in front. The {7-Clubs} hit the turn, and Cunningham needed an eight, six, or spade to win the hand. The river was the {q-Hearts}, and that sealed it for Rofman!

Hand #174- Allen Cunningham made it 60,000 from the button, and Jaspal Brar reraised to 115,000. Cunningham called, and the flop came down {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. Brar thought for about 20 seconds before moving all in, and Cunningham quickly grabbed chips for the call and put them in.

Cunningham: {k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Brar: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

Cunningham had outflopped the aces of Brar, and he stayed in the lead till the end, as the board completed {j-Hearts} and {6-Clubs}.

Hand #150- Jaspal Brar raised to 51,000 on the button and Kenneth Shelton called from the big blind. The flop came down {Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Shelton bet the pot of 114,000. Brar raised and Shelton called all in for just a little bit more.

Brar: {Q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Shelton: {K-Clubs}{J-Spades}

Shelton needed help to survive, but did not find enough from the {A-Spades} turn or {2-Hearts} river.

Anthony Harb - 5th Place
Anthony Harb - 5th Place

Hand #129- Anthony Harb raised pot to 72,000 in the small blind and Lev Rofman three-bet the pot from the big blind. Harb put in his last 200,000 or so with {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}. Rofman tabled {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}, though, and Harb needed help to stay alive in the tournament.

The flop came down {K-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} to give Harb a pair of kings. He picked up additional outs when the {9-Spades} turn fell, but the {9-Clubs} river was no help, ending Harb's run in fifth place for $38,055,

Hands 80-82: Eric Crain Eliminated in 6th ($28,839)

Eric Crain - 6th Place
Eric Crain - 6th Place

Hand #80- Anthony Harb made it 40,000 from the cutoff, and Allen Cunningham defended his big blind, and the two of them checked down a board of {6-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{9-Spades}. Cunningham showed {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}, but Harb had him one better with {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}.

Hand #81- Allen Cunningham bet pot from the small blind, and Eric Crain folded his big blind.

Hand #82- Allen Cunningham made it 40,000 from the button, and Crain quickly raised the pot, which was for almost all of his chips. It got back to Cunningham, and he moved all in. Crain called all in.

Cunningham: {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Crain: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

It was a classic coin flip, but the hand was all but over when the flop came {9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. Crain could only win with runner runner straight cards, but the {8-Diamonds} on the turn sealed it. The meaningless river was the {4-Diamonds}, and Crain, who started the final table as the chip leader, bowed out in 6th.

Jean-Nicolas Fortin - 9th Place

Hand #5- Jean-Nicolas Fortin raise to 35,000 in early position, and Eric Crain made it 90,000 next to act. Action folded back around to Fortin, and he called off the rest of his 12,000.

Crain: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Fortin: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

Crain had Fortin dominated, and that never changed as the board ran down {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}, giving Crain the knockout, and eliminating Fortin in 9th.

Welcome to our Day 3 coverage of Event #12: $1,500 Pot-Limit Hold'em. The starting field of 535 players is down to the final table and before night's end, another World Series of Poker gold bracelet will be awarded. Leading the way when play begins will be Eric Crain with 620,000.

This is Crain's second final table of the 2013 WSOP, having finished in 4th place in Event #8 for $64,975. He'll be looking to better that finish and capture his first bracelet. Second in chips is five-time bracelet winner Allen Cunningham with 452,000. His last bracelet win came in 2007 in pot-limit Hold'em, so the seasoned pro is certainly looking to capture that elusive sixth bracelet to move into a tie for ninth all time.

Bracelet-winner Anthony Harb is looking to win number two, and young pro Timothy Reilly is looking to break through on the big stage.
