Just 21 Remain

Can Kevin MacPhee make a comeback?
Can Kevin MacPhee make a comeback?

At 1 p.m. the third day of event number 49 will start it's third day. This $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em tournament started with 2,247 players but they are down to 21 after 11 levels on day 1 and 10 levels on day 2. Swedish poker professional Robin Ylitalo leads the way with more than 1.1 million in chips. Paul Dasilva has just a little less than that.

The absolute short stack with 136,000 is acclaimed poker professional Kevin MacPhee who's sure to make his sixth cash of the series today. Will he be able to do better than his 18th place finish in event number 24 ($15,586)? Also still in the running is English old school pro Barny Boatman with 347,000.

Action will begin with level 22 (8,000/16,000 with a 2,000 ante). If the tournament loses three more players there will be a redraw to form the last two tables. We'll be around all day to give you the latest updates. When the final table is reached ou won't miss a single hand since we'll be providing hand by hand coverage again.

Oh, and this is what they're playing for:

Van Tran Busts MacPhee in 21st Place

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Kevin MacPhee
Kevin MacPhee

In one of the first hands of the day Van Tan pushed under-the-gun plus one for 203,000. Action quickly folded to short stack Kevin MacPhee in the big blind. He made the call after a little bit of thinking and turned over his {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. Van Tran had found a real hand with {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} and it would prevail.

Without much feel for show the dealer put out the board in rapid fashion: {Q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Spades} | {6-Clubs} | {8-Hearts}. Van Tran gave some people on the rail a high five while MacPhee's day was cut short.

Messina Doubles Lussier

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

We witnessed the action when Lussier and Messina were already pre flop all in. Lussier, on the button, had {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} oin front of him while Messina, under-the-gun, had to battle with {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. The board didn't improve anyone with {7-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} | {5-Hearts} | {K-Clubs} and Lussier would double his 195,000 stack.

O'Donoghue Busts Schwippert in Big Pre Flop All In

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

When we arrived action was already well under way. Schwippert had apperently raised preflop from the hijack and O'Donoghye had three bet from the cut off to, what appeared, 75,000. After folds from the player on the button and both blinds, Schwippert had moved all in for 495,000. O'Donoghye made the call after some thinking, which wasn't good for Schwippert:

Jan Eric Schwippert{A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Brian O'Donoghue{10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

The board would not help Schwippert: {8-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds} | {5-Spades} | {J-Diamonds}. Schwippert now had a lot of stacking to do while Schwippert
made his way to the pay out.

J. Austin Hijar Doubles Michael Quick

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Another all in and another big one. J. Austin Hijar had the {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} but was dominated by Michael Quick's {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}. The flop gave both top pair but Austin Hijar had a flush draw on top of that: {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. The {K-Spades} gave Quick two pair and took away some of Austin Hijar's outs, but delivered the jacks as new cards Austin Hijar could possibly hit to eliminate Quick. The {10-Spades} on the river was a blank though, and Quick doubled.
