Yu is Hard to Kill

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Ben Yu began the day on a short stack, but despite being all in on numerous occasions, the dapper man has held his own. In his most recent double, Kevin Iacofano completed with a {5-} showing and Yu raised with a {3-}. Action folded back to Iacofano who reraised, and then Yu got all in for 4,100. Iacofano called and the hands were tabled.

Iacofano: {a-}{7-} / {5-}{j-}{6-}{6-} / {9-}
Yu: {5-}{8-} / {3-}{4-}{7-}{5-} / {10-}

You had an eight-seven low headed to the river, which failed to help him. Iacofano was drawing to a seven-six low, but the {9-} river gave him a losing nine-seven low. Iacofano looked frustrated while Yu was all smiles.

While Yu was doubling through Iacofano, Hoyt Corkins fell at Table 356.

Hellmuth vs. Corkins

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

We picked up the action on fourth street when Phil Hellmuth bet 1,200 and Hoyt Corkins called. After Hellmuth caught a {3-} on fifth he fired out 2,400, and Corkins, who had picked up a {K-}, quickly folded.

Hellmuth: (x-x) / {2-}{6-}{3-}
Corkins: (x-x) / {j-}{2-}{k-} fold

It wasn't much of a hand but it gave us a good chance to update you on their respective stacks.

Appleman Plucked By Kicker

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Not long ago John "Kicker" Roveto sent Randy Ohel to the rail, and long-time WSOP grinder and four-time bracelet winner Mickey Appleman sat down in the empty chair in Seat 1. Roveto then promptly sent Appleman out the door.

The exit hand escaped us, but we do know that Roveto made a 7-5-4-3-A low while Appleman has "a whole lot of nothing."

No Chip and No Chair for Eslami

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Ali Eslami on Day 1.
Ali Eslami on Day 1.

Ali Eslami is known as a cash game player, but today he was hoping to show off his razz skills. Unfortunately after 80 minutes the curtain has closed on his Day 2.

Eslami got his extreme short stack all in on third and was up against Rebecca Kerl and Hoyt Corkins. Kerl ended up tossing out a bet on fourth, and Corkins folded.

Corkins: (x-x) / {7-}{J-} fold
Kerl: {a-}{3-} / {7-}{2-}{k-}{3-} / {5-}
Eslami: {10-}{6-} / {3-}{10-}{j-}{7-} / {3-}

Kerl made a 7-5-3-2-A low, which bested Eslami's J-10-7-6-3. Unfortunately there will be no chip and a chair story for Eslami here in Event #7: $1,500 Seven-Card Razz.

Meanwhile, Australian pro Gary Benson and Las Vegas grinder Blair Rodman have both been eliminated from the tournament in unknown action.
