Event #56: $1,500 GGMasters WSOP Edition [High Roller] has come to an end after more than 14 hours with Seth "AbeFroman" Fischer closing it out against Arsenii "kastaban" Karmatckii heads-up for his first WSOP bracelet, $444,869, and the WSOP Europe Package. The $2,500,000 guaranteed prize pool was surpassed as 2,153 players turned up for the freezeout format to create a prize purse of $3,068,025.

Fischer came close to winning a bracelet back in 2008 when he finished in second place behind Dario Minieri in Event #11: $2,500 NLHE 6-Handed in 2008 for $330,519. In total, he has cashed 28 times in WSOP events totaling $533,387 and is now close to the $1,000,000-mark.

Karmatckii's best result during a WSOP event came last year when he finished in sixth place for $65,764 in Event #11: $5,000 but has over $1.5 million in live cashes and has now also recorded his biggest online score in over eight years of playing on the virtual felt. Sebastien Grax, Michael "MrFabulous" Nugent, Evaldas "Man14c" Aniulis, Dominykas "MickeyMouse" Mikolaitis, Lukas "VapeNation" Parednis, Clement "Sea View" Tripodi, and Yonatan "malakasos" Basin joined the two players on the final table.

Today's Action

The action kicked off at 5 p.m. UTC and with 210 minutes of late registration possible, the prize pool was already crushed within the first 90 minutes. Once the registration period was over and the payouts were confirmed, only half of the field needed to survive to make it into the money.

Once it was time for the bubble, Dinesh "NastyMinder" Alt was the unlucky last player to leave the tournament without cashing. He called Davidi Kitai's shove with ace-king as Jaesh "ScionofShiva" Balachandran was already all-in for less than the ante with queen-five. Kitai held ace-trey and the board ran out six-trey-five-seven-five for Balachandran to stay alive and Alt to bubble.

The eliminations flew in from all over the place and six hours later, the field was down to the final two tables. Niall Farell busted before "LittleAxeRS" for things to finally slow down for a bit. But that didn't last long. Within a mere ten minutes, four more players busted to get the tournament down to the final table.

And if you thought that the final table would be a long affair, you'd be wrong. Basin and Tripodi busted within a few hands of each other before the three Lithuanian players Parednis, Mikolaitis, and Aniulis followed each other out of the tournament. Nugent then fell too all in the first 40 minutes of the final table.

Grax started three-handed play with 50% of the chips in play but Fischer took over the chip lead after first doubling up through Grax. Fischer kept the pressure on and didn't let up. He finished the job Karmatckii started when the latter doubled up to leave Grax behind with not even enough chips to pay the 20,000 ante.

Heads-up play itself lasted thirty minutes before Karmatckii called for his tournament life with his last ten big blinds with jack-ten. Fischer's king-seven held and even paired up on the river to secure his maiden bracelet for him.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be back on Tuesday, August 11 on GGPoker to bring you the coverage of Event #58: $5,000 No Limit Hold'em 6-Handed Championship so see you then.
