Obst and Ashton Build a Big Pot

Level 17

Omaha Hi-Lo

James Obst raised on the button and got a call from Matthew Ashton in the big blind.

On the 423 flop, Ashton checked, Obst bet, and then Ashton check-raised which Obst called.

On the 4 turn, Ashton now bet and got raised by Obst. Ashton called and the players went to the river to see the A.

Ashton now check-called a bet from Obst and the players revealed their hands.

Obst showed A965 for a wheel, which would only get him the low as Ashton showed 7633 for a full house of threes full of fours.

Monnette Getting Short and Frustrated

Level 17

Limit Hold'em

Daniel Alaei opened from under the gun and was called by John Monnette in the big blind.

Monnette checked following the 1079 flop and then called after Alaei bet.

The 7 turn saw Monnette check for a second time. Alaei fired off another bet, this time forcing a fold from Monnette, who was left with around 160,000.

Monnette did manage to secure a double the very next hand courtesy of Alaei but his frustration was apparent during a profanity laced tirade directed towards the dealer.

Hellmuth Flops a Set

Level 16

Pot-Limit Omaha

After limps from Daniel Alaei under the gun, Marco Johnson in the hijack, and Phil Hellmuth in the small blind, John Monnette checked his big blind.

The quartet of stars saw a flop of 310A and action checked to Alaei who bet 25,000. Only Hellmuth called to see the K on the turn.

Before the card was dealt though, Hellmuth checked dark and Alaei then checked back.

Hellmuth also checked the J river, as did Alaei, with Hellmuth then showing Q332 for a flopped set of threes, which was good enough to earn a small but necessary pot.
