We have just arrived

Its another fantastic day in London and Team Pokernews are just starting to arrive at the Empire Casino. No player sightings as yet however we did see a rather attractive lady who was overheard describing herself as a poker player and part time model (So, a model then) - we'll certainly be trying to get some pictures of her.

The rumours around the Casino right now are that some £1000 single table satellites will be taking place upstairs for the main event. That is not confirmed as yet but we'll keep an eye on that situation to let you know if anyone noteworthy will be trying to parlay their money into a fortune.

The tables for day 2 are quite evenly balanced. Table 14 should be interesting as it features 5 of the biggest stacks in the form of Marc Goodwin, Pascal Perrault, Kirk Morrison, Mark Vos and Yuval Bronshtein. I wager that one or more of those players will be coming back tommorow for the final.

Stay with us all day because we have a ringside seat for all the action from some of the biggest names in the game.

Interesting Little Wager

As posted on his blog, apparantley Brian Townsend and Barry Greenstein have a potentially lucrative side bet for the next two events. Townsend has reported he has a 100% cross book with Greenstein on the £5k PLO and the £10k main event. Should either man make the final table it could be very lucrative.

Townsend is not a noted tournament player but obviously his cash skills speak for themselves. Greenstein is proven in both disciplines but of course he didn't turn up yesterday so it is a nicely poised challenge.

Out on the Floor

The remaining seven tables have been moved out of the poker room and onto the casino floor. Several of the players complained about the sweltering temperatures inside the poker room (due to lack of ventilation and hot lights) and the staff is utilizing the space on the casino floor to house the remaining tables.

Fricke is looking Slick

Hold'em Hand

Jimmy Fricke has just won a 10,000 pot from Matthew Hankins. He raises Under the gun and Hankins in the Big Blind reraises, Fricke calls with

{4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}

Hankins bets, Fricke calls.

{J-Hearts}

Hankins bets, Fricke reraises, Hankins calls

{8-Diamonds}

Hankins bets, Fricke reraises. Hankins goes into the tank for a very long time and reluctantly folds, clearly mucking a decent flush.

Fricke shows {4-Clubs}{4-Spades} for a full house and Hankins must be feeling a little better for the laydown.
