House for Hassan

An unknown opponent sporting a bold mullet has fallen prey to Mohammed Hassan's pocket jacks. The now-busted owner of said haircut was racing with {A-?}{K-?}, but the {J-?}{Q-?}{K-?}{Q-?}-x board put an end to his hopes, and he silently headed to the rail.

Ashby Burns Out

UK circuit regular Richard Ashby is out, getting his chips in on a classic coinflip with pocket ladies against Darren Fuller's {A-?}{K-?}. A king on the flop and a handshake later, and Ashby turns to dust.

Liv-in' on the Edge

The Livimator
The Livimator
Grinder of the day (a prestigious award, believe you me) must surely go to poker hottie Liv Boeree. She's barely been above her starting stack all day, and still only has 4,725 with blinds at 200 and 400 with a running ante of 50. Her stack has been in a couple of times, but mainly from late position where she whipped up the blinds uncontested.

With the dinner break fast-approaching, now would be a cracking time for a double-up.

Yevgeniy Timoshenko Chip Leader

For the first time today, a player in my area has apparently snagged the chip lead. With roughly 40,000 he's been headed nowhere but upwards since arriving at his second table of the day, and stacking chips so neatly he could be a croupier in piles of 20, you hardly notice that one of those piles is made of T1,000 chips and one of T500s...

Having recently won half a million dollars in Macau, this quietly capable young man is definitely one to watch.

Seidel Doubles Through Linton

Contemplating Linton's sad face
Contemplating Linton's sad face
Pete Linton has taken another hit, this time doubling up Erik Seidel. All in preflop, Seidel pipped Linton to the post, holding {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} to Linton's {8-Diamonds} {8-Clubs}. Nothing of much note happened on the {7-Spades} {6-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {10-Spades} board, and Linton is down to 9,500 while Seidel is up to 12,500. Linton made a sad face at me, and sighed, "It's all going wrong..."

Ian Frazer Eliminated

Ian "The Raiser" Frazer is now out after clashing with the enigmatic Davood Mehrmand.

On an {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop and with around 2,000 in the pot, Frazer led for 1,000, but Mehrmand put his opponent to the test by making it a total of 3,000 to play.

"How much have you got?" requested Frazer, gesticulating Mehrmand to move his hands and reveal his stack.

"What difference does it make?" asked Mehrmand as he sat back.

"Oh, it makes a difference," replied Frazer intensely.

After sizing up his options, Frazer pushed all in for 5,000 with {A-Spades}{9-Spades}, but found himself insta-called and up against a dominating {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. The {4-Diamonds} turn left the TV specialist drawing dead before the academic {7-Clubs} hit the felt, and "The Raiser" was gone.

Carl Hostrup Moves and Moves

Immediately after he was moved to a table upstairs, unpredictable Dane Carl Hostrup got pretty active with his short stack. All in preflop twice in two hands -- the first over a Timoshenko preflop raise (which was discarded quicker than an empty crisp packet) - but the second over a John Kabbaj preflop reraise. Denis O'Mahoney had made it 1,100 to go, raised to 3,900 by Kabbaj -- with a smile Hostrup's chips sallied forth again. O'Mahoney gurned a little bit and then passed, but Kabbaj called -- only for them to show down {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} and {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs} respectively. Chop chop.

Bebber Makes Quads, Kerrigan Makes His Exit

Flamboyantly-coiffed Michael Bebber has enjoyed a most decisive double-up courtesy of a demoralized Jim Kerrigan. Bebber got his chips in preflop, and with a sigh Kerrigan said, " Come on, what am I up against?" Bebber showed {7-Clubs} {7-Spades}, merely racing against Kerrigan's {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}, until the flop came out.

Board: a quad-tastic {7-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {2-Clubs} {6-Spades}

Kerrigan, now very short, made his last stand a few hands later and then headed for the rail.

Lucky Sevens

...Or not, depending on how you look at it.

Karsten Johansen raised under the gun only for Paul Ephremsen to push all in from the button to cover Johansen. After some hesitation, Johansen pushed his remaining chips in. Ephremsen threw down {7-Hearts} {7-Spades}. To which Johansen chuckled wearily, and flipped over {7-Diamonds} {7-Clubs}. A clinical {A-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {6-Spades} {K-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} board later, and both players took their chips back, a little unsatisfied, but both of them still in the running.

Cantu Takes One Out

In addition to winning a nice pot off William Martin earlier, Brandon Cantu eliminated an opponent just moments ago after hitting a straight with {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} on a {Q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{8-Clubs} board. Although his opponent had made a set of eights, it wasn't good enough, and the {K-Diamonds} on the river provided no extra help.

Cantu now up to... er, actually, I'm not totally sure as he appears reluctant to stack his chips. I bet his mother was always asking him to clean his bedroom when he was a teenager.
