Jussi Beats Jussi

Jussi Ryynanen
Jussi Ryynanen

Jussi Ryynanen kicked things off by raising to 10,000 under the gun. Roger Hairabedian, Michael Mizrachi and Jussi Nevanlinna called. The action was on Joe Hachem who hesitated from the small blind.

"I'm gonna call with some of Michael's money," Hachem jokingly said as he opted to call. Ville Mattila folded from the big blind.

The flop came down {2-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{6-Spades} and everyone checked but Nevanlinna. He threw out 18,000 and Ryynanen called. On the turn the {K-Hearts} showed up and Ryynanen moved all in for around 65,000 chips. Nevanlinna smirked and folded after about ten seconds.

"No pair," Ryynanen said with a smile.

"You had no pair?" Nevanlinna asked.

"I had a pair," Ryynanen said as he changed his previous statement.

"I believe you, but I don't believe it was good," Nevanlinna said as the two Finns went back and forth. There are still three Finnish players left at the final table, and we could see a successor of Jani Vilmunen who won this event back in 2009. Back then he beat none other than Howard Lederer for the title.

Mizrachi Bleeding; Hachem Gets Some Back

Picking up with the action on the turn, Joe Hachem bet 12,000 with the board reading {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. Michael Mizrachi called and the river was the {4-Diamonds}.

Hachem continued out with a bet of 20,000 only to have Mizrachi make it 40,000 to go. Calling this bet and losing would leave Hachem with less than 20,000 behind. Hachem went into the tank for well over a minute before announcing a call.

Hachem tabled {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for fours full of queens and was able to drag in the pot. Hachem is now sitting on a stack of about 120,000.

Nevanlinna Takes Big Chunk From Mizrachi

Jussi Nevanlinna and Michael Mizrachi keep battling, and the Finn just ook over the chip lead after winning a big pot. Roger Hairabedian raised it up to 8,000 and Mizrachi called from the small blind. Nevanlinna was in the big blind and he raised it up to 32,000. Hairabedian folded, but Mizrachi called.

The flop brought out {10-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and both players checked. On the turn the {10-Hearts} hit and Mizrachi bet 35,000. Nevanlinna followed with the call.

The river was the {J-Diamonds} and Mizrachi quickly fired out a small 25,000-chip bet. Nevanlinna did not seem too pleased, but he flicked in the required chips to make the call.

"Three tens," Mizrachi said.

"That's not good," Nevanlinna replied quickly as he turned over {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}{Q-}{3-Diamonds}.

Mizrachi flashed {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}, and threw his cards into the muck..

Abecassis Doubles Through Hachem

Joe Hachem can't believe his luck
Joe Hachem can't believe his luck

Joe Hachem opened to 8,500 only to have short stacked Michel Abecassis three-bet to 31,500. Hachem called and the flop fell {2-Hearts}{4-Spades}{5-Hearts}.

Abecassis moved all in for his last 19,000 and Hachem called to find that he was drawing slim.

Abecassis: {6-Spades}{3-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}
Hachem: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

The turn and river were the {3-Diamonds} and the {Q-Diamonds}, causing Hachem's hand to hit the muck and Abecassis' straight to earn him a double up.

Frowning Finns

Some might say that Michael Mizrachi plays an unorthodox style of poker. He gets involved in many hands and so far he has been very active at this final table. He just raised it up to 8,500 and quickly called the three-bet from Jussi Nevanlinna when the action was folded back around to him.

The flop came down {3-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and both players checked. The turn was the {6-Hearts} and again both players checked. On the river the {K-Diamonds} hit and Mizrachi quickly fired out 25,000. Nevenlinna called immediately.

"Set of jacks," Mizrachi announced before turning over {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}. Nevanlinna's eyes grew bigger as he mucked his own cards. Mizrachi started stacking more chips while the three remaining Finns locked eyes. Nevanlinna produced an impressive frown, after which Jussi Ryynanen cracked a smile. Ville Mattila smirked and all three seem to be having an opinion on what had just happened.

So far nothing is working for anyone against Mizrachi who's pulling away from the field.

Michael Schwartz Eliminated in 8th Place (€15,357)

Michael Schwartz - 8th Place
Michael Schwartz - 8th Place

Michael Mizrachi raised to 8,500 from the cutoff only to find short stack Michael Schwartz announce a three-bet to 29,000 from the small blind. In the big blind, Joe Hachem went into the tank for about a minute.

"What are you going to do?" asked Hachem to with Mizrachi with a smile.

"Depends on what you do," Mizrachi quipped back.

Another twenty seconds passed.

"I fold," announced Hachem. Mizrachi then dipped into his stack and pulled out enough chips to call.

The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and Schwartz moved his last 11,500 into the center of the table.

"May the Schwartz be with you," said Mizrachi, an obvious Mel Brooks fan, as he tossed in calling chips.

Schwartz: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Mizrachi: {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Spades}{4-Clubs}

Schwartz was well ahead on the turn, but Mizrachi picked up some outs when he paired up on the {8-Diamonds} turn. The {9-Spades} on the river sealed the deal, as Mizrachi's straight made Schwartz the second victim of this final table.

Mizrachi's stack is now well over 300,000 while Schwartz has exited the tournament room €15,357 richer.

Abecassis Slipping

Michel Abecassis raised to 9,000 from the button and Roger Hairabedian called from the small blind. The flop ran out {5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Hairabedian checked.

Abecassis threw out a 12,000-chip bet but that did not give him the pot. Hairabedian quickly check-raised to 40,000 and that send Abecassis into the tank. After about a minute he folded leaving himself with around 58,000 chips.

Jason Mercier Eliminated in 9th Place (€12,245)

Jason Mercier - 9th Place
Jason Mercier - 9th Place

Michael Mizrachi raised to 8,500 from under the gun and Jussi Nevanlinna called from the next seat over. Jason Mercier called from the button and the blinds got out of the way.

The three players saw a flop that was filled with nines on nines on nines. The {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop prompted all three players to check their option. The {10-Spades} came on fourth street and Mizrachi checked again. Nevanlinna fired 12,500 and Mercier called. Mizrachi decided to check-raise, making it 25,000 to go. Both players called and the board completed with the {8-Diamonds}.

Mizrachi checked and Nevanlinna moved 60,000 into the center. Mercier had a pained look on his face as he deliberated his action. Finally, Mercier announced a call and Mizrachi mucked his hand. Nevanlinna showed the {9-Clubs} first, and followed it up with {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}. Mercier showed {10-}{10-} and then threw away his hand.

After exiting the tournament area, Mercier tweeted the following:

Jason Mercier will take home €12,245 for his efforts.
