Channing Set Up by Hansen (£47,045)

Neil Channing - do not pass go. But do collect £47,045.
Neil Channing - do not pass go. But do collect £47,045.

The flop read {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and there was a mere 27,000 in the pot when all hell broke loose at Gus Hansen and Neil Channing's table; the betting went as follows:

Channing - check
Hansen - 22,000
Channing - 56,000
Hansen - 147,000
Channing - all in
Hansen - snap-call

Channing's {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flush draw was up against Hansen's {8-Hearts}{8-Spades} for bottom set, and following a bricky {7-Clubs} turn and {3-Hearts} river, it was a swift and probably mostly painless end for the British legend.

We'll be seeing Mr. Hansen tomorrow in the semi-final.

Eyster on the Cake for Vaswani

Kevin Eyster is not happy, after his turned two pair was counterfeited on the river.

Eyster was in the big blind and Ram Vaswani on the button when they both checked the river of the {6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} board. Eyster tabled {5-Clubs}{7-Clubs}, but Vaswani's pocket {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} had snuck back into the lead on the river and he took the 160,000 pot, leaving Eyster with 225,000.

Seed Melts to BigQueso

After sneaking that early lead, Huck Seed has dropped back to 314,000.

We caught up with him betting 31,000 from the button to a check from Jim Collopy on the turn of a {5-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{2-Spades} board. Collopy made the call, and the were at the river.

The river came down the {8-Diamonds} and Collopy checked again. Seed bet 100,000 - but Collopy now check-raised all in for 217,000, and Seed - after tanking for a full five minutes - laid it down.

In Your Eyster

Kevin Eyster
Kevin Eyster

Some poor fortune for Kevin Eyster, as the EPT Tallinn Heads-Up champion found himself outdrawn.

With 50,000 in the pot by the {7-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop, Eyster checked and Ram Vaswani checked behind. Eyster bet out 33,000 on the {k-Spades} turn and Vaswani called; he bet out another 76,000 on the {10-Hearts} river and that got called too.

To showdown, and Eyster revealed pocket {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} - but Vaswani turned over {k-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for trips, and took the pot.

Seed Cagey with Flush

Perhaps Huck Seed could have done with a bit of a break - we just now witnessed a most curious hand.

Jim Collopy opened for 10,000 from the button and Seed called to see a {4-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop. Seed checked, before flat-calling 13,000 from Collopy. Interesting.

They saw a {2-Spades} turn and Seed checked again. This time he tank-called 33,000 from Collopy. Curiouser and curiouser.

The river was the {10-Diamonds} and Seed checked again, before tank-calling a whopping 76,000. Collopy turned over {10-Spades}{8-Spades} for two pair - but was most surprised to find Seed turning over {q-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for the flopped flush.

Seed raked in the pot and has taken an early lead.

Rrrrrrrround Fiiiiiiiiiive!

That last match took so long that there was barely enough time to nip to the bathroom before the next round.

This is how they're looking now we're down to a quarter final:

Huck Seed vs. Jim Collopy
Kevin Eyster vs. Ram Vaswani
Gus Hansen vs. Neil Channing
Daniel Negreanu vs. Andrew Feldman

Lederer Defeated by Final Seed Outdraw (£22,847)

Howard Lederer
Howard Lederer

Howard Lederer's poor all-in form continued as his final hand saw him call all in with {K-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} when Huck Seed put him in on the button with {K-Hearts} {J-Hearts}. But pretty much the first card out on the flop was the {J-Clubs} at which Lederer looked fairly mortified. Seed clearly felt for his opponent, calling for the Queen which didn't come ({7-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} did instead). Shaking his head Lederer could only admit he was out of chips, while the rail muttered about the sickness of poker all round.
