Saar Grapes for Shakerchi

Talal Shakerchi found himself in some trouble after he bet out 25,000 on the river of a {9-Spades}{10-Spades}{q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{a-Spades} board and then called the push from Saar Wilf. Wilf turned over {10-Spades}{8-Spades} for the flopped flush, and Shakerchi was down almost to the felt.

Just a hand or two later and Wilf raised enough from the button to cover him. Shakerchi called all in, and was ahead...

Shakerchi: {k-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}
Wilf: {q-Clubs}{9-Spades}

...but the end of Shakerchi's tournament life was indicated by just a vague shrug from Wilf as he hit the {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}{q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{a-Spades} board and progressed to Round 4.

River Saves Kornuth

Chance Kornuth had been battling with a short stack for a while and after moving in on Daniel Negreanu a few times he was finally called and found he was in good shape. Showdown:

Kornuth: {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Negreanu: {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

The flop came {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{q-Clubs} to see Negreanu take the lead but he couldn't hold onto it through the {7-Hearts}{9-Spades} turn and river. Kornuth up to 70,600 as a result.

Yevgeniy Gone

Yevgeniy Timoshenko - among the hordes of the bubblers
Yevgeniy Timoshenko - among the hordes of the bubblers

After a pretty bad start, Ram Vaswani's day started looking up when he took the lead against Yevgeniy Timoshenko - and things are now looking great, as Timoshenko is busto and Vaswani is in the money.

Timoshenko was down to under 60,000 when he got the whole lot in preflop with a speculative {k-}{7-}. Vaswani found {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and made the call, and following an unequivocal {3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{10-Hearts} board, Vaswani progressed to Round 4.

Ziggy No More

Huck Seed has taken care of Ilari Sahamies after a pre-flop raising war saw them all-in. Sahamies opened with a raise and then moved all-in for 85,400 when Seed three-bet him. Seed asked for a count but said he was probably going to call. He got the count and called saying he was gambling.

Sahamies: {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Seed: {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

Seed was in way better shape than he thought and stayed there through the {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} board.

Better and Better for Collopy

Jim Collopy has taken a commanding lead against Full Tilt's Scott Fischman after a hand that got better and better for him. Collopy was in the BB and led on the flop, turn and river on a {7-Spades}{6-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{a-Clubs} board. The last bet was a chunky 33,300 and when Fischman called Collopy revealed {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for top pair that backed into a flush. Fischman down to 40,000 now.

Snapshots of Action

Advantage Howard Lederer
Advantage Howard Lederer

Around the room at any one time ten matches could suddenly find the confrontation to end them, or send one player into a decisive lead or begin a comeback! Sometimes hands aren't turnaround ones, they're just the latest, though:

Neil Channing vs. Chris Moorman: "He's bluffed me three times. That I know of," admits Channing, before nonchalantly four-betting his young opponent preflop and picking up 12,500. He holds the lead, but not by a ton.

Howard Lederer vs. Shawn Buchanan: Buchanan drops to 80k after Lederer calls him down on the river with {J-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} on a King-high rainbow board. Buchanan only shows the {A-Hearts} and concedes the pot.
