Queso on Toast

Perhaps it's having an audience that's doing it - both players doing well (Vaswani and Hansen) are on the side of the table that can see the rail, while both players doing rather poorly (Collopy and Feldman) have only a view of the chandelier behind the balcony.

Whatever the cause, both big stacks are getting bigger while both shorties remain in some trouble.

We saw Jim Collopy raising on the button and getting called by Ram Vaswani. Collopy tried another 33,000 on the {2-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop but that got called too, and they checked down the {4-Spades} turn and {8-Hearts} river.

"You have a pair?" asked Vaswani as he flipped {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} - but the reply from Collopy was, "No pair," and the Queso head sunk towards the felt, as did the Queso stack.

Shot in the Arm for Collopy

Jim Collopy's stack is heading back in the right direction for the first time in a while. He called a Vaswani raise to 31,000 to see a {5-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop where he check-called a 35,000 bet. Both players checked the {9-Diamonds} turn before Collopy led for 88,000 on the {7-Diamonds} river. Vaswani quickly folded.

Feldman in a Hole

The flop read {2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Spades} at the start of an epic hand that would last the best part of 10 minutes. Andrew Feldman checked the flop before calling 18,000 from Gus Hansen.

Feldman check-called another 37,000 from Hansen on the {7-Diamonds} turn, and he checked again on the {q-Diamonds} river - this time the bet from Hansen was 74,000. Feldman had 300,000 left to his name.

Now began the epic tankage from Feldman. His sunglasses came off and he stared at the felt, Hansen nonchalantly playing with a stack of chips as Feldman squirmed. Feldman eventually made a noise like a horse that wants another go at the nosebag - but did nothing, tanking for several minutes more instead.

Eventually he folded, and is now in a very deep hole that he might have some trouble hoisting himself out of.

All-In Decision Interrupted by 11 Lady Gaga's

Phil Hellmuth's Entrance
Phil Hellmuth's Entrance

Andrew Feldman made his first all-in stand against Gus Hansen. Hansen called from the button to face a 302,000 shove from the young Brit. As Hansen was thinking whether to call the sound of someone singing Poker Face by Lady Gaga accompanied by a Marching Band bellowed out across the casino. Who else would it have been but Phil Hellmuth making his usual over-the-top entrance. He walked up the stairs and right by our matches flanked by 11 Lady Gaga lookalikes before taking his seat.

Hansen somehow re-found his concentration and folded.

Queso Fights Back

Jim Collopy was in position as he and Ram Vaswani saw a {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{j-Spades} flop. Vaswani checked, Collopy bet 33,000, Vaswani called, and they saw a turn.

Turn: {a-Hearts}

Vaswani checked again and this time the bet from Collopy was 72,000, a very significant chunk of his remaining stack. Again, Vaswani made the call and they were at the river.

River: {5-Clubs}

Vaswani checked a third time, and this time Collopy paused for a moment - before resolutely sliding his last 250,000 across the line. Vaswani never looked as though he was really considering a call at all, and within seconds he'd folded.

Collopy is still at a 3:1 disadvantage, though, on 470,000 to Vaswani's 1.45 million.

Break Time

Players are heading off on their first 10 minute break of the day - or Andrew Feldman is anyway. Jim Collopy and Ram Vaswani are still in a hand, and Gus Hansen has presumably decided it isn;t worth battling past the rail on crutches for 10 minutes - although he's had three bottles of water already so he may find he needs an impromptu bathroom break if his match with Feldman doesn't conclude swiftly...

Collopy Doubles in Break

Jim Collopy was all-in for the second time in a hand that lasted five minutes into the break. Vaswani raised to 31,000 and called when Collopy three-bet to 84,000 from the BB. The flop came {5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and Coolopy led for 96,000 and was called. Both checked the {j-Hearts} turn before Collopy moved in for 232,000 on the {j-Spades} river. Vaswani took his time and and the made the call but mucked upon seeing Collopy's {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for a full house. He's back up to 890,000.
