Welcome to Day 3!

Welcome back for Day 3 of the 2010 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event! The field started a couple days ago with 346 players and has been whittled down to just 66. Just about half of them will make the money at 36 and that will be happening today.

Coming into the day as chip leader is Viktor Blom, but only slightly. He's only a mere 900 chips ahead of Bojan Gledovic. Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, JP Kelly, Nick Schulman and Huck Seed are all still alive and looking to make a big splash. Negreanu is going for his third year in a row for a final table appearance in this event.

Play kicks off shortly, so stay tuned for all the action. The field is stacked and it's going to be a great day on the felt!

Level: 13

Blinds: 1,200/2,400

Ante: 300

Big Chips

Phil Ivey raised to 6,000 and Bojan Gledovic reraised from the next seat to 15,000. Ivey called and the flop came down {9-Spades}{4-Spades}{4-Clubs}. Ivey checked and Gledovic fired 18,000. Ivey gave it up and Gledovic won the pot to take the chip lead in the tournament.

Man Down, Michael Browne

Michael Browne had 16,000 chips out in front of him when we walked up, and it looked like that was his opening raise. Next door, Michael Benvenuti moved all in for 59,400, and the action folded back to Browne. He had just a few thousand chips more than his opponent, and he said, "I knew I had to make a move early. Let's see if I have one more lucky hand." With that, he plunked in the call to put Benvenuti at risk.

Showdown
Browne: {9-Spades} {9-Hearts}
Benvenuti: {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}

There were a couple scary looking eights, but no nine on a board that ran {7-Spades} {8-Spades} {K-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {8-Hearts}, and Benvenuti has doubled up over 120,000.

Browne was eliminated on the very next hand as the first casualty of Day 3.

Life's a Bichon

Thomas Bichon has taken a bit of a hit and is not looking very happy about it.

He raised to 5,200 in the cutoff and got a call from David Baker in the big blind to see a {5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop. Baker checked and Bichon bet 6,800; Baker now made it 15,900, but Bichon re-popped to 42,000. A flat-call later and they were at the turn.

The turn was the {a-Diamonds} and Baker checked again. After a long pause, Bichon checked behind.

The river came down the {10-Diamonds} but we got the feeling that Baker's 53,000 bet had nothing to do with it. Either way, Bichon folded, and the pot went to Baker.

"Welcome in the game," said Bichon rather loudly, some frustration evident as he dropped to 220,000.

"I play about as bad as is possible, Baker told him, I flopped the nut high."

Seatelli Doubles Through Wiggs

Anton Wigg and Jean Paul Seatelli found all the money in preflop with Seatelli at risk holding the {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}. Wigg held the {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}.

The board ran out {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and Wigg was forced to send over the 52,900 chips that Seatelli was all in for.

When the cards were turned over, Hoyt Corkins chimed in and said he had an ace. Wigg said after the hand was over, "Don't say that, I don't want to hear that." It only makes things worse to know it was a two outer and not a three outer. Wigg is down to 81,500 chips.

Where Am I?

By the by, down in the Poker Room (which involves actually leaving the casino, going around the reception, through a different reception, through the slots area and a bar and down a corridor into the Poker Room itself) we are still missing a few players - probably they've just become lost on the way down here, but if anyone sees Mark Thurgood or James Bord, please send them down here.

Roland de Wolfe's was another early empty seat, but he's since found his way down here.
