Play Comes to an End

The longest day at this years WSOPE has come to and end. Sixty-eight players managed to last the full twelve-and-a-half hours.

This star-studded field has had to contend with five different varieties of the game we love. The majority managed it just fine, but some of the dealers did get confused at times. But they've done the long slog too today, and when pots are being halved and quartered it's enough to put anyone's mind into a spin.

Tomorrow could be an even longer day as we try and whittle our way down to a final table of nine. If this isn't possible, then the minimum we will stop at tomorrow will be 16 players, where the money starts.

Actions get under way at 2pm local time; we hope you can join us again.

Goodnight from the center of London town.

Action for ActionJack

Hold'em:

Paul Jackson is up to 15,000 despite being seated on a terrifying table which includes Gus Hansen, Isaac Haxton, and Phil Hellmuth.

His most recent triumph has been against Torstein Iversen. The flop came down {4-Hearts} {K-Spades} {Q-Hearts} and Iversen bet out, swiftly called by Jackson. They both checked the {6-Diamonds} turn and Iversen checked the {7-Clubs} river, at which point Jackson bet. Looking rather confused, Iversen folded.

Bad Half-Hour, Worse Hour

Omaha-8:

A very short-stacked David Benyamine raised from UTG and received a call from Jeff Lisandro before David Williams reraised. Both Benyamine and Lisandro called before the flop came {Q-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {3-Hearts}.

Benyamine moved all in and saw Lisandro pass, but Williams made the call with {A-Spades} {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {3-Clubs}. Benyamine held his hand tight until the final cards were dealt though.

The turn came {9-Clubs} and river {4-Clubs} before Benyamine tabled {K-?} {4-?} {J-?} {2-?}.

No good and Williams scooped the lot, eliminating the Frenchman.

No Gould for Peter Today

Hold'em:

A short-stacked Peter Gould has just been eliminated. He got his last few chips in preflop and was called by two opponents, including Daniel Negreanu.

It was checked all the way down until we had a board that read {K-?} {Q-?} {A-?} {Q-?} {J-?}.

One player said he was playing the board before Negreanu tabled {4-?} {4-?}. Gould mucked, meaning he was out and Negreanu burst out laughing, not at Gould's departure but that he had the winning hand on that board.

Ashby Down to Embers

Razz:

UK circuit fixture Richard Ashby is down to just 4,800 after calling Mark Gregorich down all the way to seventh street and then mucking his down cards before burying his face in his hands.

Gregorich: {7-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {6-Spades} with {5-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {A-Hearts}.
Ashby: {2-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} with a small stack and a sour expression.

A Question of Value

Jean-Robert Bellande is complaining.

"This is the worst value tournament I've ever seen." Then to Mark Gregorich at the next table: "The worst value for me, not for you, Mark. There isn't a tournament invented that's bad value for you."

Snickering ensued.
