Jason Newitt Eliminated in Ridiculous Stud-8 Quads Hand

Hurrah, I have quads
Hurrah, I have quads
Jason Newitt was all in for small change on third street, with Doyle Brunson, Max Pescatori, and John Juanda all in the hand as well.

There was some giggling at Brunson's hand by fourth street and more by fifth street. Eventually he bet it on sixth street and Pescatori got out of the way, but Juanda called.

Juanda: {K-Spades} {A-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} with {5-Diamonds} {4-Hearts}-X for the low.

Brunson: an entirely astounding {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {5-Hearts} with {3-Hearts} {5-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} for the high.

Newitt: {6-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {6-Spades} with {2-Clubs} {4-Spades} {8-?} for not very much, although he initially thought he'd won the low.

"Pretty Bad Half-Hour"

Looking glum
Looking glum
Hold'em:

After losing a big pot to David Williams when he had to let a hand go on the river, David Benyamine has just lost another pot to the player to his right.

The turn had just been dealt, giving us a {8-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} board. Benyamine called a 1,000 bet from his opponent before the river came {4-Diamonds}.

Benyamine faced another 1,000 bet that he called. He was shown {K-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} and a wry smile crossed his face as he exposed {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts}.

"Pretty bad half-hour," he said to Jeff Lisandro. He's down to 5,500 now.

Duvall Wins Battle of the Blinds

The Professor
The Professor
Hold'em:

Jeff Duvall just took a decent pot from Howard Lederer and inched closer to an average-sized chip stack.

"The Professor" made it 1,000 to go from the small blind and Duvall made the call from the big.

The flop came {4-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {10-Clubs} and Lederer fired a continuation bet of 500; Duvall made the call.

Both players checked the {5-Clubs} on the turn, prompting the dealer to reveal the river card -- the {K-Spades}.

Lederer then took one final stab at the pot with a 1,000 bet and Duvall quickly called.

"Queen," said Lederer, after which Duvall tabled {10-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} for a pair of tens and took in the pot. He now sits with just under 15,000 in chips; the average stack is currently 16,200.

Hellmuth Trying It On

Doesn't have the goods
Doesn't have the goods
No one seems to be giving Phil Hellmuth any respect any more.

Twice he's bet out on third street and instantly folded to a raise, the first time in a razz hand showing {Q-Clubs} up, with Gus Hansen as the aggressor showing {A-Hearts} up, and the second time in a stud hand showing {4-Clubs} to Torstein Iversen's {9-Hearts}.

Things are moving fast here now, with recent apparent bust-outs including Jolyne Thompson, Mike McDonald, Chris Ferguson and Neal Friets.

Ivey Sings a Different Tune to the Choir Boy

Omaha-8:

Gary Jones raises from UTG and calls a reraise from Ivey in the next seat. No one else called so the flop came {5-Clubs} {2-Spades} {Q-Spades}.

Jones led out and Ivey raised him again. Jones made the call before both players checked when the turn brought a {5-Diamonds}. They both checked the {Q-Clubs} river too.

Ivey's {A-Spades} {J-Spades} {3-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} was good for the lot as Jones mucked. He's up to 45,000 whereas Jones slips down to 10,900.

Are We Having Phan Yet?

You win some, you lose some
You win some, you lose some
Stud:

John Phan bet every single street and Andy Bloch called him all the way down to take a chunky stud pot.

Phan: {10-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} with {10-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} for a pair of tens.
Bloch: {Q-Hearts} {5-Spades} {6-Spades} {4-Diamonds} with {Q-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {3-Hearts} for a pair of queens.

Stud-8:

Phan clawed back some chips a few hands later, though, forcing Thomas Bihl to fold to a raise on sixth street. Phan is now on 12,300.

Phan: {10-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {6-Spades} by sixth street.
Bihl: {A-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {9-Hearts}
