Day 2 Concludes

Rudy Blondeau

Out of the 356 players that began the tournament, only 183 of them returned to action for Day 2. It took over 14 hours and 12 levels of play, but the field has been whittled down to just 36. Everyone left is forunate enough to have earned a return on their investment with everyone that returns tomorrow earning at least $4,619.

Many of the big names that entered the day failed to make it to the money. Angel Guillen, Veronica Dabul, Brandon Demes and Dan Frank all saw their LAPT hopes dashed before they could reach the money. Leo Fernandez was also eliminated today, but he did manage to squeak into the money for a 41st-place finish.

Topping the pack to end the day is Rudy Blondeau. He stormed to the front of the pack with a few massive pots including one worth an addition of about 200,000 chips alone when he eliminated Vilson Polmann with pocket queens. Blondeau rounded out the day with 536,500 in chips.

The chip leader coming into the day was Matthias Habernig. He did well to maintain a big stack throughout the entire day and closed out with 298,000. Andre De Oliveira Sa (511,000), Dayan Vardanega (380,000) and Miguel Velasco (392,500) also built some nice stacks during the day. Sander Aalders and Paulo Rink are also moving onto Day 3.

Play resumes tomorrow when the final 36 players return to play down to a final table of just eight. With everyone already in the money and guaranteed some form of payout, tomorrow shouldn't be as long as today was. There's plenty of poker passion going around here in Florianopolis and it makes for quite the atmosphere here on the tournament floor. Be sure to tune back in tomorrow at noon local time for all the action as only PokerNews can provide. We'll see you then!

Baptista and Aalders Chop

Sander Aalders raised to 18,500 and Marco Caicedo Jaramillo called from the next seat. Claudio Baptista moved all in for 60,000 even from the button and then action folded around and back to Aalders. He reraised all in. Jaramillo folded {A-}{J-}, leaving the other two to do battle.

Aalders: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Baptista: {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}

The board ran out {7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and the board made a seven-high straight. Both players were awarded a half of the pot each and chipped up a tiny bit.

Santos Gets Dirty on Blonde(au)

Dirty blonde(?) Alessandra Correa Dos Santos
Dirty blonde(?) Alessandra Correa Dos Santos

Alessandra Correa Dos Santos open-jammed from the button for her last 74,000 with Rudy Blondeau making the call.

Santos: {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}
Blondeau: {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}

The board ran out {5-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{Q-Hearts} to see Santos double through to 158,000 as Blondeau slips to 580,000 in chips.

Gui Doubles

Richard Gui was all in preflop with the {A-Spades}{3-Clubs} and called by an opponent in the big blind with the {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. The board ran out {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}{5-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{5-Hearts} to give Gui the win and double him up back over 100,000 in chips.

Polmann Busted by Blondeau

Alessandra Correa Dos Santos raised from under the gun to 20,000. Rudy Blondeau reraised to 50,000 from a couple seats over before action folded to Vilson Polmann on the button and he moved all in for 175,000. The blinds and Dos Santos ducked out of the way, but Blondeau made the call, putting Polmann at risk.

Polmann held the {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and Blondeau the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}.

The flop came down {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and Blondeau improved to a set of queens and put a strangle hold on Poilmann's tournament life.

The turn brought the {K-Clubs}, which kept Polamnn alive and drawing to an ace or a king for the double. The river didn't find one of his outs when the {J-Clubs} fell and he was sent to the rail.

Blondeau now has a whopping 655,000 in chips.
