Biography

Maria Ho is a Chinese-American professional poker player and broadcaster. Ho has over $4.2 million in career earnings.

She is a member of the Women in Poker Hall of Fame, having been inducted in 2018. She competed in the fifteenth season of The Amazing Race alongside fellow poker player Tiffany Michelle.

Her poker resume includes six top-10 finishes in WSOP events, including a sixth-place finish in the 2017 WSOP Europe Main Event for €174,365.

Biography

Ho was born in 1983 in Taipei, Taiwan, but moved to the US at a very young age. Ho started playing poker while she was studying Communications and Law at the University of California, San Diego.

At first she competed against her friends in home games, but soon moved on to playing limit cash games at nearby Indian casinos. Ho took her game to the next level after graduating from university in 2005. She started playing high stakes cash games and after awhile moved to the big tournaments.

After cashing in numerous tournaments around Los Angeles during the mid-2000s, Ho's breakout score came in the 2007 WSOP Main Event, finishing 38th for $237,865.

Ho would be a regular at the WSOP, but would also cash in events around the world including South Africa, Australia, France and Ireland.

In 2011, she recorded the largest cash of her career. She narrowly missed out on a WSOP bracelet after finishing second in a $5,000 No Limit Hold'em event for $540,020.

Having previously competed on The Amazing Race, Ho returned to reality TV with GGPoker's Survivor-style poker show, Game of Gold. Ho was part of the first season of Game of Gold when it aired in November 2023.

Commentary

As a respected member of the poker community, Ho has regularly provided commentary on tours, events, and festivals around the world. This includes working for PokerGO during High Roller Triple Crown, US Poker Open, Super High Roller Bowl, and World Series of Poker events.

In 2019, Ho won the Global Poker Award for Broadcaster of the Year.
