Edin Alijagic Wins Threeway All-In; Eliminates Two Players

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Edin Alijagic raised to 5,000 under the gun and the player to his direct left called. It folded around to the player on the button who moved all in. The blinds folded and Alijagic himself moved all in. Then the third player moved all in, and as the dust settled we got to see what cards each player was holding.

The button who had started the shovefest showed {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}, while Alijagic held {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} and the third player {a-Spades}{k-Spades}.

The flop was a good one for Alijagic as it came {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}, meaning that both remaining players needing running quads to stay alive. The turn was the {q-Diamonds} and the river the {5-Spades} meaning that Alijagic knocked out three players and gleefully added the chips to his stack.

Perhaps they should change the Festival's name to 8888Live?

Eventually Spit called and his opponent took a while staring at his own cards quietly before turning them over to reveal {q-Spades}{7-Spades}. Spit showed {5-Hearts}{5-Spades} and they held up as the board ran out {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}.

Tomas Brokl Saved on the River

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The player under the gun limps and Tomas Brokl raises to 3,800 from middle position. The player to his left calls, as does the initial raiser.

The flop is {q-Spades}{j-Spades}{6-Hearts} and the initial raiser checks to Brokl who bets 8,100. The third player in the hand folds and the initial raiser moves all in. Brokl eventually calls and tables {a-Spades}{q-Clubs} and is behind to the {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} of his opponent.

The turn was the {10-Spades} giving Brokl flush and straight outs to go with any ace for a better two-pair. The river is the {k-Hearts} and Brokl doubles up.

"Why do you call that?" asks his opponent.

"Why not?" came the reply from Brokl.
