Day 1d Completed

Nadi Yusuf Leads 52 Players from Final Flight of Opening Event

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

The final flight of the 888Live Rozvadov Festival started at a peculiar time. Flight 1C was still ongoing, and there were some question marks as to whether it would attract enough players to meet the guarantee. The record for most players at an 888Live event was already smashed - in total 783 players paid €225 to enter the Opening Event, eclipsing the 700 at the 888Live London Festival late last year.

In the end, it was clear - 254 players played Day 1D; two more than who played days 1A and 1B put together. And with Flight 1C gaining 277, it is clear that Saturday is the day for poker here in Rozvadov.

The Opening Event comes with a €150,000 guarantee, and with that assured midway through the day, all players had to do was focus on getting through to Day 2. Players from all previous flights showed their faces again, this time fixed with the goal of making it through to tomorrow and a shot at making the money.

Players will sleep well tonight knowing that a stack will be waiting for them when the tournament resumes at 13.00 local time here in Rozvadov.

It's 49 players who will join the 19 players from Flight 1A, 25 from Flight 1B and 56 from Flight 1C. A total of 150 players will return tomorrow to battle it out. 79 players will get paid a minimum of €493, first place prize is €27,824.

Leading the way is Nadi Yusuf with 370,500. He had a busy day, playing both Day 1C and 1D. But after being eliminated when his pocket tens failed to hold up against Roman Papacek's Ace-King, he jumped into the second flight of the day and soon ran up a stack. Despite not being able to come close to the chip leaders from the previous days' flights, Yusuf will be brimming with confidence at the size of his chip stack when he opens his bag again tomorrow afternoon.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for a full list of players advancing to Day 2, and for the conclusion of this tournament tomorrow, which starts at 13.00 local time. Make sure to follow our coverage from 888Live Rozvadov, with the €5,300 High Roller starting on the 2nd February and the €888 Main Event the day after.

3 More Hands

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Tournament officials have announced that three more hands will be played before the day is finished and the remaining players bag up their chips ahead of their return tomorrow for the final day.

Marek Zandar Gets Paid with Aces

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Marek Zandar opened to 8,000 from middle position and it folded round to the big blind who called.

The flop came {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and it was checked to Zandar who moved all in. His opponent called and tabled {k-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for top pair. However, Zandar had him beat with the biggest pair of all: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}.

The turn was the {7-Hearts} and the river the {6-Clubs} meaning that Zandar chipped up as the final level drew to a close.

Final Level

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Play has definitely slowed for the night, with a series of players tanking on a number of tables that remain. There is still 15 minutes on the clock, but tournament officials will soon draw for the number of hands to be played for bagging up for the night. Stay tuned to PokerNews for a full recap of the flight's action as well as a full chip count for all players progressing to the final day tomorrow.

Herve Decker Eliminates an Opponent

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Herve Decker raised to 6,000 from the cutoff and the small blind moved all in for 29,500. The big blind thought about it for a while but eventually folded.

Decker called and showed {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and his opponent had {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} and Decker gratefully raked in his opponent's chips. He now sits on just over starting stack with 135,000.

Break

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Players are going on their final 15-minute break of the day. The 100-value chips will be raced off, and then there will be two more levels before players bag their chips ahead of the final day tomorrow.

Ali Cetinbilek Eliminates a Player

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

On a flop of {6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds} Ali Murat Cetinbilek check-called a bet from his opponent of 8,500 and saw the {q-Hearts} dealt on the turn.

Cetinbilek wasted no time in moving all in and his opponent's hands covered his face as he toyed with his remaining chips. Cetinbilek had him covered, and with just over two levels left in the day, it would be a tough time to be making an exit. However, he ended up calling.

Cetinbilek showed {k-Spades}{q-Spades} and having turned top pair, his opponent winced and showed {a-Clubs}{6-Spades} for second pair. He stood up to leave as the {10-Diamonds} was dealt on the river.

"Nice call on the flop," came the cry from the other end of the table, and all Cetinbilek could do was nod as he stacked his chips.
