After an exciting day of poker action, the 2012 PokerStars.net Australia New Zealand Poker Tour Queenstown Snowfest Main Event champion has been crowned! The player who walks away with the title, all the glory and the NZD$110,600 first-place prize is Australia's David Allan.

The final day started with nine players all hoping to make it where Allan stands right now. However, there can only be one winner and so eight players had to fall short. The first elimination occurred within the first ten minutes, with the short-stacked David Evans being sent home in ninth place. Evans got his stack in good holding {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts} against Ken Demlakian’s {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} on a {8-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop, but was unfortunate to run into an ace on the river.

The next player to find the rail was Evans’ fellow short stack, Ivan Zalac. It was Ricky Kroesen who eliminated Zalac, with Kroesen’s {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} trumping Zalac’s {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}. Zalac was eliminated in a gallant eighth place after winning a side event earlier in the week. It didn’t take long from there to eliminate Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang in seventh place.

The play was starting to slow down again here, but eventually it would be Matt Wakeman who was sent home in sixth place. During five-handed play, Westmorland would lose a huge amount of his chips to multiple players and Demlakian would re-claim his chip lead. The fourth level of the day was when the action came to a halt and it wasn’t until the fifth level that the next elimination would occur. It was almost two and a half hours since the last bust-out, but inevitably it had to happen and unfortunately for David Zhao, he would go home in fifth place.

It didn’t take long from there to find our fourth-place finisher and that would be Ricky Kroesen. The three-handed battle would last for more than an hour, but it would eventually be Jordan Westmorland who would go home in third place. Westmorland’s tournament came to an end at the hands of Demlakian.

Having eliminated Westmorland, it was Demlakian who started heads-up with a slight chip lead over the ever-aggressive Allan, but it wouldn’t last for long. Allan edged in front very quickly and it stayed that for way for short while, before the lead then chopped and changed several times. It eventually got to the point where it seemed Demlakian had a big enough lead to run away with it.

However, Allan wouldn’t go down without a fight, managing to manoeuvre his 20 big-blind stack all the way to reclaim a chip lead. From there, Allan never looked back and after a two-hour heads-up battle, Allan eliminated Demlakian in second place. For his gallant effort, Demlakian was sent home with NZD$70,400 – his first and biggest live tournament score to date.

A big congratulations must go out to Allan as he goes home the NZD$110,600 first-place prize. This marks Allan’s first major live tournament victory, with the revered Australian online player joining an elite group of ANZPT champions.

Ken Demlakian Eliminated in 2nd Place (NZD$70,400), David Allan Wins!

Ken Demlakian - 2nd Place
Ken Demlakian - 2nd Place

After a tough two-hour heads-up battle, the final hand of the 2012 PokerStars.net Australia New Zealand Poker Tour has played out.

It started with David Allan limping the button and Ken Demlakian checking the big blind. Both players opted to check the {8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{7-Spades} flop and it was on to the {q-Clubs} turn. Demlakian led for 50,000 here and Allan called.

The {k-Spades} river was flipped onto the felt and Demlakian led for 60,000. Allan then announced a raise to 170,000 and Demlakian shoved all in. Allan made the call and Demlakian's tournament was at risk.

"Two-pair," Demlakian said as he turned over {7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

"Flush," replied Allan, tabling {10-Spades}{6-Spades} as he did so.

With the last hand dealt and all the chips in Allan's stack, Demlakian goes home in second place, collecting a very nice NZD$70,400 in prize money.

Jordan Westmorland Eliminated in 3rd Place (NZD$41,200)

Jordan Westmorland - 3rd Place
Jordan Westmorland - 3rd Place

It took a little while, but we have now lost another player. It started when the play was folded to Jordan Westmorland in the small blind. He raised it up to 50,000 and Ken Demlakian called from the big blind.

On the {3-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop, Westmorland checked and then raised to 175,000 after Demlakian bet 75,000. Demlakian made the call and a {7-Hearts} was dealt on the turn. This time Westmorland jammed for 388,000 and Demlakian didn't take long before he made the call, putting Westmorland at risk.

Westmorland: {8-Spades}{6-Spades}
Demlakian: {7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

Westmorland had draws coming out of his ears, but Demlakian was in front with his pair. The {q-Clubs} on the river was not what Westmorland was looking for and he was eliminated in third place - worth NZD$41,200.

Ricky Kroesen Eliminated in 4th Place (NZD$34,200)

Ricky Kroesen - 4th Place
Ricky Kroesen - 4th Place

Ricky Kroesen had been struggling to find a good spot or good cards to make a move for the last hour or so. He got a walk in the big blind and showed ace-king, and hoped that would be the start of his recovery. Unfortunately two hands later, it was all over.

Kroesen moved all in from the button for 270,000 with {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts} but Jordan Westmorland woke up with {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades} in the big blind and made the call. The flop of {2-Hearts}{3-Spades}{10-Diamonds} wasn’t bad for Kroesen but he couldn’t catch up through the {7-Diamonds} turn or {k-Hearts} river.

Kroesen takes home NZD$34,200 for his fourth place finish.

It took around two and a half hours to lose our next player, but it had to happen eventually and unfortunately for David Zhao, he is the player to go home in fifth place.

Shortly after Zhao managed to double up, he got all his chips in holding {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} against Jordan Westmorland's {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. By the time the board had run out {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{10-Spades}, Westmorland stayed in front, improved his hand to a flush and eliminated Zhao.

For that effort Zhao goes home with NZD$28,200 and we are down to four-handed play.

Matt Wakeman Eliminated in 6th Place (NZD$23,100)

Matt Wakeman - 6th Place
Matt Wakeman - 6th Place

Returning from the break and it was Matt Wakeman who was the short stack. He has now been eliminated at the hands of Jordan Westmorland. Wakeman's last hand of the tournament started when the action was folded to him in the cutoff. He shoved all in for a touch over 130,000 and Westmorland called directly on his left. The blinds got out of the way and Westmorland tabled {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}.

"I need to get lucky," Wakeman said as he flipped over {a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. "I can make wheels though, i've got a wheel draw!"

By the time the board ran out to the turn, the {6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{3-Spades} on the felt certainly did give Wakeman a straight draw, but the {7-Hearts} on the river sealed the nail in his tournament coffin as he was eliminated in sixth place.

Bryan Huang Eliminated in 7th Place (NZD$19,100)

Bryan Huang - 7th Place
Bryan Huang - 7th Place

The eliminations have been flying fast here at the 2012 ANZPT Queenstown Snowfest final table, with Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang the latest addition to the rail.

The last hand of Huang's table started with David Allan opening to 16,000 from under the gun. Jordan Westmorland then three-bet to 39,000 and the action was sent to Huang in the small blind. After just a few moments, Huang four-bet all in for 203,500. Allan got out of the way and Westmorland called.

Westmorland: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Huang: {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}

Huang was in need of some serious help, but it was help that would never come, as a {10-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} board sealed the seventh place spot for Huang. For that effort, Huang goes home with NZD$19,100 - solidifying his place as Singapore's all-time tournament winner. With that, Westmorland is now the chip leader.

Ivan Zalac Eliminated in 8th Place (NZD$15,100)

Ivan Zalac - 8th Place
Ivan Zalac - 8th Place

The ninth-place finisher, David Evans, and Ivan Zalac both started the day with the shortest stacks. They have now both been eliminated, with Zalac falling to the rail during the following hand. The action was started with a raise to 12,500 from Ricky Kroesen and Zalac quickly shoved for 61,000 on his direct left. The play then flew back around the table to Kroesen.

"Well, let's see if i can win a flip," said Kroesen as he tumbled in the call. It wasn't quite a flip though, with Kroesen's {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} having Zalac's {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds} dominated.

The {7-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} board was no help to Zalac, with him being eliminated in eighth place, while all his chips head into Kroesen's stack. A great effort from Zalac, he goes home with NZ$15,100.

David Evans Eliminated in 9th Place (NZD$12,070)

The first elimination has occurred very early here at the final table, with the short-stacked David Evans heading home in ninth place. The hand started with Matt Wakeman opening the pot to 12,000 from early position. Evans was a couple of spots to his left and three-bet to 36,000. Ken Demlakian made the flat-call in the hijack and Wakeman got out of the way.

Flop: {8-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

Evans instantly shipped his remaining stack of around 50,000 in on the flop and Demlakian called just as quickly.

Demlakian: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Evans: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

Evans was in good shape to double up and it stayed that way on the {10-Diamonds} turn. However, it was the {a-Spades} on the river that sealed Evans fate, sending him packing with NZD$12,070 to show for his time.
