Smith Picking His Spots

In the first hand, Pravin Harji opened with a bet of 13,500, which was called by Graeme Putt on the button. With the option on Geoff Smith, he raised to 30,000 from the small blind. Only Harji called to see the flop come {2-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}. Smith instantly moved all in for 65,500 more, and was met with a quick fold.

In the next hand Emile Gissaud opened to 16,000 and was called by both Smith and Monica Eastick. The flop fell {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Eastick threw out a bet of 20,000. Gissaud called, before Smith counted out a bet of 60,000 and placed it in the middle. Eastick got out of the way, leaving a decision for Gissaud. He sat back in his chair, before finally releasing his hand.

Two nice hands have seen Smith jump up to 250,000 in chips.

Jared Ushers in Re-Draw

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

The 18th-place elimination has just occurred, with Jared Adams hitting the felt in 19th place and ushering in the table re-draw.

The hand in question began when the action folded around to Adams in the small blind. He moved all in for an extra 16,000 and Angie Fitzgerald called.

"Do i have to show?" Fitzgerald asked as she tabled her {5-Spades}{4-Hearts}.

Adams was looking good to double with his {k-Clubs}{4-Spades}, but Fitzgerald's insistent calling for a five seemed to pay off as the dealer turned over a {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{j-Hearts} flop. Fitzgerald couldn't help but celebrate, which she then apologised for doing.

No help came on the {10-Diamonds} turn or {7-Spades} river and so Adams was sent home in 19th place.

With that, only 18 remain and the players are currently re-drawing for their seats. We will have a table draw posted soon.

Everyone Doubles

On each of the three remaining tables, a short-stack was all in, and found a double.

The first was Michael Guzzardi, who was all in on the turn, with the board reading {7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{5-Spades}. His {j-Clubs}{8-Hearts} was able to hold against Emile Gissaud’s {8-Spades}{4-Spades} as the river bricked the {A-Diamonds}.

On the second, Geoff Smith raised to 10,500 and was met with a raise to 50,000 from Jared Adams. That was exactly how much he had, as he made the call. His {K-Spades}{K-Clubs} was in front of Adams’ {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} as the board ran out {2-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}, to keep him in the tournament.

After all this had happened, we noticed Patrick Healy raking in a large amount of chips, after getting involved in a big pot with Miroslav Sheynin, to keep himself around.

Two Eliminations in Quick Succession

With the board reading {3-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, Kani Edwards moved the last of his chips into the pot and was called by Emile Gissaud. He tabled the {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts} but was dominated by the {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}. The river was no help, as it fell the {6-Diamonds}, sending him to the pay-out desk.

Shortly after, Hoshy Patel was eliminated, leaving 19 runners all hoping to make the final table by the end of day’s play.

Gao Takes From Sheynin, Gives It Back

We arrived at the table to see Slav Sheynin open with a bet. Jamie Mulligan made the call, as the table folded around to Jie Gao in the blinds. He moved all in for an additional 83,000 and was called by Sheynin. Mulligan hesitated for a moment, before eventually throwing away his cards.

Gao: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Sheynin: {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}

The board ran out {Q-Clubs}{K-Spades}{8-Spades}{2-Spades}{5-Diamonds} to see Gao move up to 196,000 as Sheynin dropped down to 340,000 in chips.

In the next hand, Gao opened with a bet of 15,000 from the button, before Sheynin raised it to 40,000. Gao called and both saw the flop come down {K-Spades}{2-Spades}{3-Hearts}. Sheynin bet 25,000 and was almost beat to the pot by Gao. When the turn dropped the {7-Diamonds}, Sheynin check-called a bet of 45,000 before the river fell the {5-Diamonds}. Both players checked and the cards were tabled.

Gao: {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Sheynin: {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Just like that, Gao gave it all back, as he dropped down to 85,000 as Sheynin moved to 450,000 in chips.
