Koray Turker had been relatively quiet compared to what we are used to.
Then this happened.
We arrived on the river of a board, with over 50,000 in the pot and with overnight chip leader Amant Nauhria leading out for 22,800. On Turker and he had jammed for just over 100,000 extra. Nahria tanked for a long time, getting a count before announcing the call.
Turker simply tapped the table as he turned over for ace-high.
Nahria shouted in joy as he tabled his .
Just like that, Turker is out and Nauhria is once again one of the chip leaders.
Nahria immediately left the table after that big hand and hasn't returned yet.
Pravin Harji has survived a scare to double up and stay alive in the ANZPT Auckland Main Event approaching the money bubble.
After Stanislav Chataline opened with a raise, Harji moved all in from the small blind for an additional 24,500. Chataline got a count and made the call with but was dominated by Harji’s .
The board ran out to see Harji’s hand hold up for the double up. He’s now up to around 70,000 and has a little breathing room.
Sam Ruha was extremely short when he found himself all in holding against , in a blind versus blind situation. The flop was a scary one for Ruha, but the turn and river meant that he would live to fight another day.
Four spots off the top 24 money-paying positions and Ruha is the shortest stack in the room.
Nearing the bubble and last year’s ANZPT Auckland third-place finisher Pravin Harji isn’t looking too good as he now sits with just around 30,000 in chips. The latest pot that Harji lost was against Koray Turker, who he has rumbled with multiple times during the last couple of levels.
We arrived at the action to find Harji and Turker on the turn of a board, with around 50,000 in the pot. Harji had led for 14,100 and Turker moved all in, with Harji having around 30,000 behind. Harji tank-folded and Turker scooped up the pot. Turker is now at around 160,000.
Ben “The Doc” Rendall opened from under the gun to 5,100 before faced with a raise to 9,000 from the player in the cutoff. La Rimamaki decided to flat call on the button and Randall came along to see a flop of .
Action checked around and the turn was the . There was a healthy pot in the middle but again all three tapped the table as the completed the board on the river. Rendall now led out with a bet of 17,500 which forced one fold but Rimamaki made the call.
Rendall opened up but would’ve been a little disappointed to see Rimamaki show for the same hand. Chop it up!
Rendall sits with 120,000 with Rimamaki on 90,000.
The flop was a good one for Raybon Kan as he held and had a player at-risk holding . When a hit the turn, the player was drawing dead, but that didn’t stop Kan from calling out “Ten!”
He was clearly looking to hit an elusive royal flush, but the poker gods didn’t hear his call as an completed the board on the river. Kan can’t complain though as one more player has been eliminated and Kan is now up to 175,000.
Constantin Harach’s tournament has come to an end but there wasn’t much he could do about it.
A classic cooler saw Harach run his into the of Stanislav Chataline with all the chips in preflop. The board ran out to see Harach eliminated and Chataline climb to 185,000.
