We arrived at Tristan Bain's table with a flop on the felt and with Bain going up against Kosei Ichinose. Both players committed 1,700 here and it was on to the turn. Ichinose checked to Bain here, who bet 4,100. Ichinose tanked and then eventually called as the river was completed with an .
Ichinose opted to check again here, at which point Bain splashed out his stack of just under 20,000. Ichinose only had around 9,800 behind and went deep into the tank. When Ichinose decided to fold, Bain showed a cheeky as he raked in his new chips.
Brad Bower has just been eliminated here on Day 1c of the ANZPT Queenstown Main Event. Bower was one of the early short stacks and only had 5,000 in chips prior to the beginning of his final hand. It started with Patrick Healy opening to 500 from early position. Bower then three bet to 1,400 from the button and Healy called.
On the flop, Healy checked and Bower moved all in for 3,600. Healy made the call and Bower tabled . Healy was out in front with and it stayed that way when the turn and the river completed the board. With that, Bower is gone.

Yan thought for quite a while before making the call. The turn brought about a and Bain tumbled out a bet of 5,150. Yan again tanked and eventually made the call. The river was a and Bain opted to this time check. Yan obliged with a check as well and then showed his , which was strong enough to send Bain's cards into the muck.
Geoff Smith knows what it takes to win a poker tournament in New Zealand. Smith won the ANZPT Auckland Main Event back in November of last year. He's having another go at glory here in Queenstown. We recently watched Smith and PokerStars Team Online Roy Bhasin battle in a small hand. Bhasin was in the big blind and Smith was in late position when the two players took to a flop in a raised pot.
On the flop, Bhasin led for 1,800 and Smith made the call. The turn brought about a and this time Bhasin checked. Smith flicked out 2,600 here and Bhasin decided not to continue with his hand, letting his cards go and sending the pot to Smith.
Edison Nguyen has just lost a sizable pot to Lukas Byrns. We didn't arrive at the action until a board was on the felt. There was already over 10,000 in the pot at this point and Nguyen has checked over to Byrns, who bet 5,000. After a few moments, Nguyen made the call and would then have to immediately muck when Byrns showed for a flopped full house.
Despite losing the above hand Nguyen, who finished 2nd in a WSOP APAC event in April, is still going strong here in Queenstown with above the starting stack.
The total entries for today, including several players who didn't show up to play, has weighed in at 47 players. That brings the total entries for the 2012 ANZPT Queenstown Main Event to 126 players.
