Three short days of poker have entered the record book and now it's time to start moving ever-closer to the business end of the ANZPT Queenstown Main Event.
When the tournament began there were 126 hopefuls and that was whittled down to the 66 who will return today. Australia's Daniel Laidlaw bagged up his monster stack on Day 1b and it was looking likely that he would be the overall chip leader heading into Day 2. Then Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang played Day 1c and surpassed all, finishing with a very large stack of 99,425. Huang has had huge success in Queenstown in the past, having made the final table of this event in 2010 and 2012. Can he do it again?
There are plenty of very familiar faces who will be joining Laidlaw and Huang at the felt today including Daniel Neilson, [Removed:17], Matt Wakeman, Jordan Westmorland, Jeff Rossiter and the reigning ANZPT Queenstown champion Dave Allan.
While we wont make the money today, we will get very close, so it's going to be an exciting day of poker. It all begins at 2.00 p.m. local time, so be sure to keep it locked here at PokerNews for all the live updates!

The players have scrambled into their seats and the cards are now in the air here on Day 2 of the ANZPT Queenstown Main Event.
Today we have five full tables in the main poker room and two tables out in the main casino floor of the SKYCITY Casino.
The plan is to play six 60-minute levels today, having a 10-minute break after every two levels.
Let’s do it!
Oliver Gill has already made his presence known, shouting out several things across the room. Gill is seated at the same table as Matt "mjw006" Wakeman, who just arrived late. Gill commented (loudly) on Wakeman's absence.
"I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO BLIND OFF UNTIL OUR TABLE BROKE INSTEAD OF SITTING AT THE SAME TABLE AS ME," quipped Gill to Wakeman.
Wakeman won't be blinding off, but he may be in need of some earmuffs.
"There shall be no thin value betting today," quipped Oliver Gill at the completion of a hand against Raj Ramakrishnan on a .
The hand in question saw Oliver open preflop to 1,500 from under the gun and receive a call from Ramakrishnan on the button. Gill made a continuation bet on the flop and Ramkrishnan flat called. Both players then checked the turn and river and at showdown Gill showed . Ramakrishnan turned over his for two pair and scoope up the pot.
Geoff Smith won ANZPT Auckland back in November and will be looking for more New Zealand poker success here in Queenstown. He started the day as one of the chip leaders, so that's good news for him. However, his stack has just taken a little hit thanks to Jeff Rossiter.
We arrived at the action with a flop out on the felt and with Smith checking out of the big blind position, to Rossiter in middle position. Rossiter bet 1,900 here and Smith made the call. The turn was a and again Smith checked. This time Rossiter bet 4,200 and Smith took his time before making the call.
The board was completed with a and Smith once again tapped the table. Rossiter moved all in here for 8,300. Smith studied Rossiter for some time, looking from the Aussie to the board cards and back again. Eventually Smith decided to make the call and would immediately regret it as Rossiter tabled for the nut flush and enough for a double up.

Geoff Smith | 58,000 | |
Jeff Rossiter | 30,000 |
We recently arrived at Table 5 to find Ricky Kroesen all in for 3,250 from the button holding and with Matt Wakeman having Kroesen at risk with his . We didn't catch the action, but apparently Oliver Gill had flat-called an open from Wakeman and then folded to raise from Wakeman. We say apparently because Gill kept characteristically saying, "Oh, im such a nit!"
When a board was spread on the felt, Wakeman graciously told Kroesen nice hand as he had doubled his tiny stack.
"Alright everyone if Rickwaa comes back and wins this tournament it's going to be his fault," Gill said (loudly once again) in regard to Wakeman squeezing him out of the hand preflop.
The following players are a couple of those no longer involved in the ANZPT Queenstown Main Event.
