Falling Fast

We have already lost 26 players in the first hour of play. With 80 left, the players have broken into 10 eight-handed tables. They will remain eight handed for the duration of the tournament.

Dye is Done

Shane Dye on Day 1
Shane Dye on Day 1
Three players saw a flop of {6-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {4-Hearts}. Facing a bet of 6,000, Shane Dye moved all in for an additional 6,200. Next to act was Tim Heath, who moved all in over the top of both players, having them covered. Action was back on the original bettor and after a short session in the tank he folded his hand.

Dye: {10-Hearts} {J-Hearts}
Heath: {K-Hearts} {9-Hearts}

Both players had flopped a flush, but Dye was drawing dead to a runner-runner chop. The turn was the {Q-Clubs} and the river brought the {4-Diamonds} and the end of Dye's tournament.

Interestingly, the original bettor had folded {Q-?} {Q-Hearts}, and would have made a running full house.

Shove Doesn't Work for Kyle

Paul Kyle was short on chips and moved in from middle position. Andrew Pantling woke up with a medium pair on the button, {7-Diamonds} {7-Spades}, and made the call. Kyle held {Q-Hearts} {4-Hearts}.

The flop of {9-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {4-Clubs} left Kyle drawing for little help. The turn and river were the {2-Clubs} and {K-Diamonds}. Pantling increased his stack and now sits with around 75,000 chips.

Levy Takes One From Seet

On a flop of {A-Spades} {K-Spades} {9-Hearts}, Grant Levy bet 5,000 into Nathanael Seet. After some thought, Seet called. The turn came the {10-Diamonds} and Levy checked. Seet took some time before checking behind.

The river was the {2-Clubs} and Levy made a bet of 7,500. This sent Seet into the tank for several minutes. "Go easy on me," said Levy as he waited for Seet to make a decision.

After a while, Seet began to talk. "Wow," he said.

"You have a big hand?" replied Levy.

"Not now, no."

"So you had a big hand then?"

"No," Seet said with a smile.

"So you're going to call just to see what I have then?" asked Levy.

"No, no. It's too expensive for that," answered Seet before folding his hand.

Levy decided to be nice and reveal to Seet and the rest of the table that he held pocket nines and had flopped a set.

Mclaughlin Ousted

Thomas Mclaughlin - Eliminated
Thomas Mclaughlin - Eliminated
Thomas Mclaughlin has just been eliminated in the early moments of today's play. He held pocket eights and moved all in from late position. One of the players in the blinds looked him up with {A-?} {K-?}.

The flop was {2-?} {7-?} {2-?}, but an {A-?} hit the turn, putting Mclaughlin in serious danger of being knocked out. The river failed to find him one of the two remaining eights, and he headed over to the bleachers where he'll watch the rest of the tournament from the rail.

Unlucky Dyer

After some preflop action between Jerome Dyer and Tayne Derriman, the two players saw the flop come {K-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {7-Spades}. Derriman moved all in for his last 12,500 and Dyer made the call.

Dyer: {A-Hearts} {K-Spades}
Derriman: {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}

The turn gave Derriman a straight draw when the {J-Spades} fell. The river completed that draw with the {9-Diamonds}, and Dyer sent over the 12,500 he owed to Derriman.

Ivan Tan Out Early

Action folded around to Ivan Tan, who was in the small blind, and he move all in against the big blind Jeff Putt. Putt woke up with pocket aces, called, and Tan turned over {Q-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}.

Despite picking up a gutshot draw on the turn, Tan couldn't improve to beat Putt's aces. Putt had a small stack himself, but is now around 40,000.
