"That's what Hachems do."

A lucky three for Tony
A lucky three for Tony
Jerome Dyer raised to 3,000 from middle position and it folded around to Tony Hachem in the small blind. Hachem asked Dyer how much he had left and Dyer responded with the amount;16,000. Hachem moved all in and Dyer quickly made the call holding pocket queens. Hachem held a much smaller pair pocket; threes.

The flop was dry for Hachem and Dyer's queens held the lead. The turn nailed Hachem with a three, giving him the lead in the hand. Dyer needed to catch one of the remaining two queens on the river for a better set, but was unable to do so, eliminating him from the event.

"I got lucky," said Tony.

"That's what Hachems do," responded someone at Tony's table.

Cvetkovski Wins a Huge Pot

Sreten Cvetkovski on Day 1
Sreten Cvetkovski on Day 1
Sreten Cvetkovski moved all in against his opponent on a flop of {A-Hearts} {7-Spades} {7-Hearts}. This sent his opponent into the tank for a few minutes, but eventually he called. Cvetkovski roled over {A-Clubs} {K-Hearts} and yelled "Show me an ace!" His opponent flipped up {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}. Cvetkovski jumped from his chair and yelled, "Hold!"

The turn came the {5-Hearts} and the river was the {6-Hearts}, giving Cvetkovski a better flush and the winning hand. He yelled over to his friends on the rail "Huge pot, huge pot!" and began stacking his freshly acquired 90,000.

Zhou Can Do It

Andrew Scott - Eliminated
Andrew Scott - Eliminated
Under the gun, Jim Zhou limped into the pot for 1,000, and action passed all the way around to Andrew Scott in the small blind. He looked down at {A-Spades} {3-Clubs} and made the call. The big blind, Grant Levy checked, and the three-handed flop came out {3-Spades} {2-Spades} {8-Diamonds}.

Scott, sitting with about 15,000 chips, moved all in. Levy ducked out, but Zhou made a quick call, tabling {J-?} {J-?} and putting Scott on the ropes. The turn and river bricked off for the Aussie, and he headed to the rail with a smile on his face.

Honeybone-d

James Honeybone Eliminated

We caught up with this hand on the turn, with the board reading {J-Spades} {6-Spades} {3-Spades} {10-Hearts}. James Honeybone moved all in for 11,300 against tournament chip leader Nathanael Seet. With about 15,000 in the pot already, Seet went into the tank.

"How much is it?" asked Seet. The dealer counted it out and Seet then thought for a few more minutes before saying, "It's 50-50, I have to call."

"It is 50-50," said Honeybone as he turned up the {9-Clubs} {8-Clubs}. Seet rolled over a red {J-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} and the words "great call" were murmured around the table.

The {3-Hearts} landed on the river and that was it for Honeybone. "Great call," he congratulated Seet. "Really good call."

Seet is now up to 130,000 and taking chips by will.

Erikson Catching Pairs

Soren Eriksen
Soren Eriksen
Before the flop, Soren Erikson found himself all in against an opponent who had him slightly covered. Eriksen held {K-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} and was in good shape to double up against the {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} of his opponent.

The board came out {Q-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {9-Spades} {4-Clubs} {6-Diamonds}, and Eriksen doubled up. The table was commentating that he also doubled up with pocket aces earlier in the day. He is up to 26,000.

The Hachem Brothers

So far, things have been going better for Tony Hachem than for his brother Joe. Tony has built his stack up to 55,000 over a series of hands.

On his latest hand, Tony called a big river bet by Raymond Walker with two pair. "I was worried about a backdoor flush or even a higher two pair," said Tony after he won the hand. "You can understand why it was such a hard call."

A few tables down and in the same row, Tony's brother Joe hasn't managed to get anything going and been floating around 15,000 to 20,000 throughout the day. It seems to be the norm that when Joe raises a pot, everyone folds and allows him to only take the blinds and antes. Despite the lack of action, Joe seems keen on sitting patiently and waiting for good hands or good spots to gather chips.
