Jan Van Dyk Eliminated

From Riches To Rags
From Riches To Rags
The action folded to Jan Van Dyk in the cutoff who moved all in. Hori Katsiyoshi moved all in over the top from the button and covered Van Dyk as the blinds got out of the way.

Van Dyk: {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Katsiyoshi: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}

The board landed {9-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} ending the tournament of our overnight chip leader.

Saab Leads From Front

David Saab
David Saab
Yoshihiro Tasaka had just bluffed off a large chunk of his stack to hand the tournament chip lead to Australian David Saab.

Tasaka fired a bet on the flop and followed it up with another 10,000 chip bullet on the turn on a board of {J-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades}{8-Spades}. Saab slid out a stack of purple chips to make the call.

The river brought the {9-Clubs} and Tasaka counted out 20,000 and splashed them loosely into the middle. Saab made a relatively quick call in such a huge pot.

Tasaka sighed and revealed {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades} for just ace-high as Saab's pair of {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} was good enough to collect the huge pot. Saab is now out in front with 160,000 with Tasaka back to 125,000.

Runner-Runner is Lackovic's Undoing

Nick Lackovic eliminated
Nick Lackovic eliminated
Nick Lackovic was not pleased with Daniel Williams at the end of the hand that knocked Lackovic out of the tournament. He moved all in for 16,000 over the top of Williams' raise to 5,000. Williams took over a minute to make the call, seemingly doing a lot of math in his head. When he did call, he tabled {A-Spades} {7-Spades}, a hand that was dominated by Lackovic's {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}. The flop {6-Spades} {3-Hearts} {3-Clubs} helped neither player. When the {J-Spades} hit the turn, Lackovic clapped and said "That's the one!", but Williams had picked up a spade flush draw. That draw filled when the river came {2-Spades} and knocked Lackovic out.

"Come on..." said Lackovic, the disappointment clear in his voice. He stood up from the table as Williams collected the pot, then took one last look at the board. "Ace-seven. F*ck."

Lucky Eights

Robert Campitiello
Robert Campitiello
Robert Campitiello was all in for his tournament life with {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} but Jan Van Dyk made the call holding {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}.

The board fell {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{2-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and Campitiello spiked a miraculous two-outer on the river to survive and double up to about 36,000.

"Eights are lucky in Asia!" laughed David Saab however Van Dyk wasn't interested as he went for a walk to cool off as the overnight chip leader fell to 20,000 chips.

Toodle Yu

Yu Kurita is the latest competitor to fall. Short-stacked for much of the last hour, she open-shoved all in with {K-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} and was called by Fam Kai Yat, who showed {J-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}. The board ran out {9-Spades} {7-Spades} {7-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {J-Spades} to send Yu to the rail.

Acton Takes On The Terminator

On a flop of {9-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} the action checked to giant-killing Yoshihiro Tasaka who fired out 6,200. Robert Acton then check-raised all in for an additional 24,000. James Suen stepped aside, as Tasaka went into the tank before making a reluctant fold.

"Nice had sir," chatted David Saab, "against the Terminator as well!"

Acton takes one from Tasaka to jump up to around 50,000.

Faqiryar Bullies Kim

The difference between winning and losing in poker is often a case of who blinks first. Wooka Kim didn't blink when she raised to 3,500 preflop, and still didn't blink after Sam Faqiryar reraised to 10,600. On the {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} flop, she made a small bet of 4,700 after Faqiryar checked. He then check-raised all in and finally Kim blinked. She folded her hand.
