Sabat Rivers A Double

Eddy Sabat Manages A Double
Eddy Sabat Manages A Double
Following folds from Martin Rowe and Vanessa Rousso, Eric Assadourian opened to 1,600 from the cutoff. With the action on Eddy Sabat in the big blind he re-raised to 6,100 and Assadourian made the call.

The flop came down {8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Sabat continued his aggression leading out for 4,000. Assadourian then slid an 11,000 bet effectively putting Sabat all-in. With only 3,700 Sabat made the call and would need some help holding {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs} against Assadourian's {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

The turn of the {4-Diamonds} gave Sabat additonal chop outs but and when the {10-Hearts} hit the river Sabat found a well needed double-up to move to over 27,000 and leave Assadourian on only 6,900.

Rousso Puttin' on the Squeeze

Vanessa Rousso's impressive chip stack had dwindled tot he point that she was the new short stack. When Chad Brown raised to 1,500 and was called by Eddy Sabat and Martin Rowe, Rousso decided to jam for 9,300. Brown and Sabat both folded to Rowe. He thought it over, then folded himself.

"I really wanted to call there," said Rowe. "If I had thought we were flipping, I would have called since you keep saying how badly you run on flips."

Marcus Wins Battle of the Vans

The tide has turned for Vanessa Rousso
The tide has turned for Vanessa Rousso
We've had our first battle of the Vans - Van Marcus and Vanessa Rousso. Rousso opened for 1,100 before Marcus reraised from the button to 3,600. Rousso asked Marcus for a count and was told he had 5,600 behind. She then moved all in.

'I'm hoping she has eights," said Marcus as he called with a shrug.

Rousso: {A-Spades} {Q-Spades}
Marcus: {J-Spades} {J-Clubs}

The flop was huge for Marcus, coming {4-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {7-Hearts}. "Running hearts!" he implored the dealer jokingly. He didn't get his wish. The turn and river were the {2-Diamonds} and the {8-Spades}. He doubled up to about 19,000.

Assadourian Doubles

Vanessa Rousso raised to 1,100 from the button and was met with a re-raise from Eric Assadourian out of the small blind to 3,000. Rousso thought for some time before moving all-in putting Assadourian to a decision for his tournament life.

Assadourian sat in the tank for over two minutes before making the call tabling {A-Spades}{10-Spades} to be in a race against Rousso's {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}.

The flop of {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} kept Rousso in the lead but when the {A-Hearts} landed on the turn Assadourian soared ahead. The {6-Diamonds} fell on the river giving the pot to Assadourian as he doubled to 21,000 and sending Rousso back down to 19,500.

Eddy Sabat opened to 1,000 from late position and with the action on Lee Nelson he moved all-in for 4,700 from the button. Vanessa Rousso then announced all-in from the small blind, and with Sabat out of the way the cards were turned over.

Nelson: {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}
Rousso: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

The board ran out {2-Spades}{3-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Nelson headed to the rail in 7th place as Rousso moved up to a touch under 30,000 in chips.

Sabat Rivers Rousso

The board showed {J-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {8-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {A-Hearts}. Vanessa Rousso bet 2,000 before being raised by Eddy Sabat to 5,000. Rousso started counting down her tournament-leading chip stack.

"I don't have that much," said Sabat. Rousso finally just called. Sabat showed her {8-Spades} {A-Diamonds} for two pair. Rousso groaned and mucked.

The next hand, Sabat was first to raise. The big blind, Eric Assadourian, looked at him and said, "You just showed ace-eight. You know that, right?"

Sabat replied, "Wait, whose big blind is it?" knowing full well that Assadourian was in the big blind.

Joe Hachem Eliminated in 8th Place

Joe Hachem - 8th Place
Joe Hachem - 8th Place
Joe Hachem moved the remainder of his 2,200 short stack in from early position and found a caller in Martin Rowe.

Hachem: {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}
Rowe: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

Hachem would need a lot of help to stay alive and the flop of {4-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} left him with a slim chance. The turn of the {2-Hearts} left Hachem with only three Jacks in the deck, but with the {10-Diamonds} landing on the river we lost Hachem in 8th place as Rowe moved up to over 19,000 in chips.

Grant Levy Eliminated in 9th Place

With limits up to 200 and 400, action will be quick now. Van Marcus even joked, "It's a shove-fest. Slowly becoming Poker After Dark."

As he was saying this, Grant Levy and Martin Rowe went to war. Levy raised to 12,000 preflop and Rowe called. Both players checked the {2-Spades} {j-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} flop. All the chips went in on the turn {3-Diamonds}, with Levy tabling {4-Spades} {4-Diamonds} for a pair of fours against Rowe's {3-Hearts} {3-Spades} turned set. Levy had a ton of outs, but didn't hit any of them. The river fell {7-Spades} to send Levy to the rail to the applause of the gallery.
