Sam Korman Eliminated

Sam Korman Eliminated
Sam Korman Eliminated
With six players limping Sam Korman’s big blind, he decided to take down some loose chips holding {k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. Korman moved all in for 4,425 chips. All was on course for Korman until his last remaining opponent decided to make the call with {A-Spades}{j-Spades}.

The flop was bittersweet for Korman, first revealing the {7-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} but peeling off the {j-Diamonds} to complete the flop. The turn {6-Clubs} and river {q-Hearts} couldn’t help Korman, who was sent to the rail.

It's All About Timing

Adam Monaghan has been sent to the rail after making a move at a multi-way pot on a flop of {6-Clubs}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs}. Monaghan held {6-Spades}{2-Spades} for top pair and moved all in for his last 1,950, but found himself in terrible shape as an opponent called with {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for a flopped full house.

The turn was the {7-Spades} and river {K-Clubs} as Monaghan heads to the exit. We're now down to under 200 players left in today's flight.

Salibo Sails Past Fevola

Brendan Fevola
Brendan Fevola
Brendan Fevola is one of this country's highest profile Australian Rules Footballers, but wasn't able to kick too many goals today as he recently joined the rail.

"Fev" was all in with {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} against two opponents, one holding {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and Simon Salibo holding the monster {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}.

The board fell {9-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{A-Spades}{2-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, and although Fevola made the nut flush on the river, Salibo made a full house, aces full of deuces. Fevola busts out while Salibo climbs to 15,700.

Putt Still Running Good

Graeme Putt clearly did not use up all of his good fortune when he caught pocket aces a short while ago and busted two players. He was involved in another hand a few minutes ago in which Putt's opponent moved all in for his last 4,200 on a board of {10-Clubs} {2-Spades} {4-Clubs} {9-Hearts}. Putt made an easy call with {10-Spades} {9-Spades} and found himself up against his opponent's pair of deuces, {A-Hearts} {2-Hearts}. The river was a harmless {6-Clubs}.

Putt now has 29,000 chips.

Richard Ashby on the Rail

Richard Ashby has just been eliminated and taken up a spot on the rail. A short-stacked Ashby got the remainder of his chips all in with {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}, and an opponent with {3-Spades}{3-Clubs} made the call.

With the board blanking out {5-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}, Ashby was eliminated.

Double Dunst

Tony Dunst
Tony Dunst
Tony Dunst was happy enough to race preflop as he found his chips in the middle with {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} against an opponent's {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}.

Dunst had his tournament on the line but the board was favourable as it landed {J-Spades}{A-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} to pair his ace and double up to 13,600 chips.

Differing Fortunes

Event 1 is over for Michael Vartan.
Event 1 is over for Michael Vartan.
Luke Hodge and Michael Vartan found themselves in a similar situation. Each was short on chips. Hodge got his last 1,125 in the middle with {A-Clubs} {K-Spades} and was up against {A-Spades} {J-Diamonds}. Things looked grim for Hodge when the flop came {2-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} and the turn {3-Hearts} didn't improve his hand. The river {Q-Hearts} saved Hodge, making a Broadway straight and the best hand. Due to dead money in the pot, his count climbed to 3,500.

Vartan, on the other hand, did not fare as well. He moved all in for 2,800 after an opponent opened with a raise to 700. Vartan's opponent made the call with ace-king; Vartan had two live cards, a queen and a ten. Each player made two pair on a board that ran out {A-?} {10-?} {4-?} {K-?} {Q-?}. Vartan's two-pair hand was second best. He has been eliminated.

Putt Rockets Up

Graeme Putt recently eliminated two opponents. All of the money went in preflop, with one opponent showing down {7-Hearts} {7-Clubs} and the other showing down {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}. Putt had them both crushed, as he had been dealt pocket aces. Putt made two pair on a board of {8-Spades} {3-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {3-Spades} {9-Hearts} to drag the pot and increase his chip count to a robust 17,000.

Pickering Emerges Through The Woods

Jamie Pickering
Jamie Pickering
In a raised pot, three players took a flop of {6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. David Griffiths checked to Tim Woods who fired out 1,500. Jamie Pickering bumped it up to 3,000 as Griffiths stepped aside. Woods made the call.

The turn was the {3-Clubs} and Woods moved all in for his last 3,000 with Pickering snap-calling. He held a set of eights with {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} to leave Woods in trouble with his {5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. The river landed the {5-Spades} to end Woods' day as Pickering surges up to 18,000 chips.
