Cliff Lee Eliminated

Cliff Lee and Tablemate Patrick Fletcher Before Elimination
Cliff Lee and Tablemate Patrick Fletcher Before Elimination
Local regular Cliff Lee has just been eliminated from the tournament.

In early position, Lee moved all-in for his last 1,800 holding {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and found a caller in the big blind holding {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} to leave Lee in a race situation for his tournament life.

Lee took the lead on the flop of {7-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, but left his opponent with outs to a straight or set. The turn changed little for each player when it brought the {Q-Clubs}, but when the {J-Spades} landed on the river it sent Lee to the rail.

All Action Steicke

David Steicke is certainly an action player as he continues to mix it up at his table. In a recent hand, Steicke raised to 650 before his opponent moved all in for 2,050. Steicke put his soul-reading glasses to work and made the call with {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and found himself racing against his opponent's {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}.

The board fell {6-Spades}{9-Spades}{4-Spades}{8-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} and the pocket threes held up to double through.

However it didn't take long for Steicke to regain his chips. He once again raised to 650 preflop and took a heads-up flop of {K-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{10-Hearts}. Steicke bet out 650 and was check-raised to 2,000 before coming back over the top for all of his chips. His opponent folded and Steicke climbs back up to 12,000 chips.

Aces Ain't What They Used to Be

Tony G
Tony G
Just before the break, Tony G was in the pole position in a three-way pot. Nobbi Tanaka raised all in preflop to 1,700 and was called by another player before the action even got to Tony. He looked down at {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} and moved all in himself for 5,250 total. A player behind him called all in for less, bringing the action back around to the first caller. As he contemplated his decision, Tony said, "Whatever you think I have, that's what I have." That statement folded the first caller, leaving the other three players to contest two pots.

Nobbi Tanaka: {Q-Clubs} {J-Clubs}
Tony G: {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds}
Third player: {K-Spades} {K-Clubs}

Tony G's aces were outflopped {2-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {K-Hearts}. That left Tony looking for an ace or running cards. He got neither. The turn was the {7-Hearts} and the river fell {J-Spades}, making Tony's aces the third-best hand.

His chip count slipped to 2,300. Nobbi Tanaka was eliminated from the tournament.

Koutsouvelis Spikes One-Outer Quads!

Steve Koutsouvelis has just captured a massive 20,000 chip pot after spiking a one outer on the turn against a very unlucky opponent.

In the last hand before the break, the two players saw a flop of {K-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and committed their chips into the middle. Koutsouvelis held {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for middle set but had ran into the {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} for top set of his opponent!

Remarkably the case {8-Clubs} fell on the turn to make Koutsouvelis quads! The river was the {6-Clubs} as the unfortunate victim rushed out the door as Koutsouvelis will now enjoy his break with over 20,000 chips.

JJProdigy Busts

Josh Field Eliminated
Josh Field Eliminated
Being short-stacked for most of the tournament Josh "JJProdigy" Field moved all-in for a little over 1,000 with {9-?}{9-?} over a limper. With the action back on the limper he made the call and tabled {A-?}{A-?}.

The board bricked out and Field was sent to the rail only moments before the break.

TheBigSiCkO Poker Clinic

Michael "TheBigSiCkO" Guzzardi is playing very, very aggressive poker at his table. He is routinely continuation-betting his entire stack on the flop. That strategy backfired in a recent hand against Marcel Jaggi. Jaggi led into Guzzardi for 1,500 on a flop of {K-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {6-Spades} after Guzzardi raised preflop. Guzzardi responded to Jaggi's bet by moving all in for 5,800. Jaggi quickly called.

Jaggi: {K-Clubs} {J-Clubs}
Guzzardi: {K-Spades} {7-Diamonds}

Guzzardi was dominated and did not improve with the {8-Spades} turn or the {6-Clubs} river. Jaggi dragged the pot, leaving Guzzardi with about 2,000 in chips.

The very next hand, a player opened the pot preflop for 350. Lisa Walsh called in front of Guzzardi, who shipped his whole stack. Action folded back to the initial aggressor. "He's steaming," the player said before folding. It seems Walsh may have agreed as she called with {A-Spades} {7-Spades}. Guzzardi, however, turned over {K-Spades} {K-Hearts}, a hand which held up through the river.

After all that action, Guzzardi has 4,700 chips. Walsh is down to 3,300.
