I'll See Your Overpair, and Raise You a Miracle River

Hold'em:

Chris Ferguson raised from the button before Alexander Kostritsyn reraised in the big blind. Ferguson made the call.

They saw a flop of {6-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and Kostritsyn led out with a bet of 6,000. Ferguson popped it up to 12,000 before Kostritsyn made it 18,000 to go. Ferguson called for the last of his chips.

Ferguson: {J-Spades}{3-Diamonds}
Kostritsyn: {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}

Ferguson held top pair but was trailing as Kostritsyn had found another big overpair. The turn was a brick in the {4-Clubs} but the river was a miraculous {3-Clubs} to give Ferguson another double up in sensational fashion! He's up to 68,000. Still in trouble, but still has a pulse.

Kostritsyn Finds Jacks To Dent Ferguson

Hold'em:

Back to the Hold'em round and Chris Ferguson raised from the button with Alexander Kostritsyn calling out of the big blind.

The flop came {3-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and Kostritsyn check-raised the bet from Ferguson to 12,000. Ferguson made the call. The turn brought the {K-Spades} and Kostritsyn fired 12,000. Ferguson thought for a moment and called.

The river landed the {7-Diamonds} and Kostritsyn fired again with Ferguson calling. Kostritsyn tabled {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds} for the best hand to take it down. Ferguson is now back down to 40,000 chips.

Kostritsyn Wheels It In

Stud Hi/Lo:

Chris Ferguson led on third, Alexander Kostritsyn led on fourth, before Ferguson once again took the reigns on fifth and sixth streets. On the river Ferguson bet before Kostritsyn raised with Ferguson making the call.

Kostritsyn: ({A-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}) {4-Spades}{3-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} ({8-Spades})
Ferguson: ({A-Spades}{4-Clubs}) {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts} ({K-Clubs})

After starting with split aces, Ferguson made two pair on the river but Kostritsyn found the wheel straight to scoop the high and low. Ferguson is back down under 85,000 chips with Kostritsyn up to 315,000.

Ferguson Chipping Up

Stud:

Chris Ferguson led the betting on third and fourth street, before Kostritsyn took over the lead on fifth street. Ferguson raised and Kostritsyn called. Sixth was checked before Ferguson fired on seventh to force a fold from Kostritsyn.

Kostritsyn: ({Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}) {J-Clubs}{9-Spades}{A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} ({5-Spades})
Ferguson: ({K-Spades}-X) {K-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} (X)

Kostritsyn flashed his open-ended straight draw as most of his outs has gone to Ferguson as he showed trip kings to take the pot. He's fighting back and is now up to 108,000.

A River from Heaven for Jesus

Chris "Jesus" Ferguson
Chris "Jesus" Ferguson
Omaha Hi/Lo:

Chris Ferguson was all in on the turn with his tournament life on the line. The board read {8-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} and he showed {Q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Clubs}{6-Hearts} for two pair however Alexander Kostritsyn revealed {4-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{10-Spades} for the flopped nut straight.

With the title in the balance, incredibly the {Q-Spades} fell on the river to make Ferguson a full house to scoop the pot and double to 84,600 to stay alive!

Ferguson on Life Support

Hold'em:

Alexander Kostritsyn has taken down the first two pots in heads-up play during the Hold'em round.

The first hand saw Kostritsyn down it down making two pair with {Q-Spades}{6-Hearts} on a board of {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}.

He followed that up by making a pair of tens on a board of {7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Spades} holding {10-Clubs}{4-Clubs} against Ferguson's {K-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a flopped pair of sixes.

Ferguson is down to 32,000 and in need of a double up.

Heads Up Chip Counts

We're now heads up in Event #16 with Alexander Kostritsyn holding a nice chip advantage over Chris Ferguson.

Kostritsyn - 390,200
Ferguson - 109,800

"Thanks for doing all the work for me!" laughed Ferguson as the cards are back in the air with the Aussie Millions Gold Ring on the line!

Jeff Madsen Eliminated in 3rd Place (AU$40,000)

Jeff Madsen - 3rd place
Jeff Madsen - 3rd place
Hold'em:

Jeff Madsen has been crippled and then eliminated in back-to-back Hold'em hands against Alexander Kostritsyn.

In the first hand Madsen check-called the whole way on a board of {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{2-Spades}{5-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. Madsen held just ace-high with {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts} but Kostritsyn had paired up with his dominated {A-Spades}{5-Spades}.

Madsen was left with just 20,000 chips and he got them all in preflop next hand with {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}. Unfortunately for him he'd run into the {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} of Kostritsyn. The board ran out {2-Hearts}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and Kostritsyn takes out another one as Madsen hits the rail in 3rd place for AU$40,000 in prize money.
