The game was Stud, and the victim, David Morton. Our Victorian Championships H.O.R.S.E. winner has been thrown from his saddle.
We caught the action on fifth street with Jeff Lisandro leading the betting. Morton raised, and Lisandro put in another raise. Morton called and was all in for his last 800 on sixth, as the boards were tabled as follows:
Morton: ()
Lisandro: ()
Lisandro's sevens and sixes took the chocolates as Morton could only manage a pair of nines and was eliminated.
Billy "The Croc" Argyros is famous for his success in H.O.R.S.E. events in this country, but it wasn't to be today after he was recently eliminated. In a hand of Stud H/L, Crocky was showing plenty of paint on his board but couldn't get past the full house of Jeff Madsen who revealed () () for the high as Jeff Lisandro collected the low with a seven-low.
The remaining 15 players are now taking a dinner break while those that have busted are drowning their sorrows at the Aussie Millions player's party. We'll be back at 10:30 p.m.
There have been quite a few post-dinner bustouts as the short stacks in the field struggled to recover.
Jan Suchanek was first to go when he fell to Joe Hachem in a recent Stud H/L hand.
He was soon followed by Steve Sung who couldn't overcome Sergey Rybachenko during Stud. Rybachenko tabled -X for a flush to take it down.
They were joined on the rail by Jeff Duval, leaving us with only 12 players remaining. The pace of this tournament has been relatively brisk so far, however, we are now approaching the final table and the money stage of the tournament. At the moment the plan is to play tonight until we reach the money and our final five players.
It's been a disasterous few minutes for Australian Poker Hall of Fame inductee Jeff Lisandro. He was first dented in a Hold'em hand with Chris Ferguson. The action was capped on a flop of before Ferguson bet the turn and river with Lisandro calling him down. Ferguson showed and Lisandro mucked.
Omaha H/L:
The game then switched to Omaha H/L and Lisandro was crippled after tangling with Jeff Madsen. The board read and after some heavy betting on the turn, Lisandro called Madsen's bet on the river.
Madsen flipped for a full house to take it down and leave Lisandro with only 700 in chips.
Alexander Kostrisyn then landed the knockout blow when Lisandro was all in preflop with against Kostritsyn's .
Joe Hachem raised from the button and David Bach made the call in the big blind. Hachem led the betting on every street on a board of and Bach called him down.
Hachem revealed but Bach just had him outkicked with his to take the pot.
