Michael Binger 1, Clonie Gowen 0

Clonie Gowen and Michael Binger are both on the feature table and have drawn a significant number of railbirds. Gowen was overheard telling a story to her table (and the rail) about waiting quite a while for a seat in a recent high-stakes PLO games in Bobby's Room at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.

Gowen mentioned that by the time she got her seat in the game, there had been quite a bit of turnover of players. "There were only two soft spots at the table," said Gowen.

Binger saw his opening. "You and who else?"

Parker Takes a Hit

Chris Parker, a little unhappy to lose a race
Chris Parker, a little unhappy to lose a race
Chris Parker's chip stack has just taken a blow after a preflop confrontation. His short-stacked opponent held {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and made the call when Parker pushed all in from the big blind with {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {J-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{6-Spades}, missing Parker to give his opponent the double up. Parker slips down to 25,000 chips.

Bodo Sbrezesny on the Up

Bodo Sbrezesny has moved up to 56,000 after winning an interesting pot with a set.

Our field reporter caught the action on the turn, with Sbrezesny holding {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and the board reading {2-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. Sbrezesny called a 4,000 chip bet from his opponent and they went to the river {6-Diamonds} where once again the opponent led out, betting 5,500.

Sbrezesny went into the tank for a solid three minutes, until other players at the table became restless, and so Sbrezesny made the call. His opponent sheepishly tabled {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for an airball busted flush draw.

The Great Dane Heads Back Upstairs

It seems likely that, before each player made his way to his seat, Tom Dwan and Gus Hansen were playing each other in heads-up PLO online earlier in the day. Hansen will have plenty of time for heads-up PLO the rest of the night. He moved all in from the small blind for 5,625 after one opponent opened for 1,200 in middle position and another called in late position. The middle position player folded to Hansen's reraise, but the late position player made the call after tanking for about a minute.

"I'm hoping you don't have two overcards," said Hansen. He showed {J-Hearts} {J-Clubs}. His opponent had just that, turning over {K-Spades} {Q-Spades}. It was a queen window card on the {5-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} flop. The rest of the board came {6-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} to knock Hansen out.

"Christmas Come Around Too Early, Baby"

With the board reading {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, Scotty Nguyen has moved up to 70,000 after an opponent moved all in on him holding {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}. Nguyen was miles ahead holding {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}.

After the river bricked the {5-Clubs} to safely double him through, Nguyen remarked "Christmas come around too early, baby".

A few hands later, Nguyen bet 2,500 on a flop of {5-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {5-Spades} and was called by Steve Topakas. Topakas folded the {J-Clubs} turn to a bet of 6,000 from Nguyen.

Nguyen showed the railbirds {A-Clubs} {9-Spades} and announced, "This is the nuts, baby. Don't try this at home." To Topakas he added, "You got robbed baby."

Tilly on the Move

Jennifer Tilly
Jennifer Tilly
Jennifer Tilly must have had a relaxing dinner. She's on the move up the counts after winning her second pot in a row by betting the river of a {9-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {7-Spades} and inducing a fold. Neither pot was very large, but chips are chips. Tilly now has 47,000 of them.

No Time For Dessert

There were a few notable late comers following the dinner break. Phil Laak and Jennifer Tilly rushed to their tables a few hands late, shortly followed by Gus Hansen.

Joe Hachem then spotted that his brother Tony had also failed to return after dinner. A quick phone call and Joe was overheard saying "Yeh, we started ten minutes ago!" A few minutes later Tony was spotted running to his table.
