Mike "Mad Dog" Watson bet 10,000 at a flop with 11,000 already in the middle. His only opponent, Justin "Boosted J" Smith, quickly moved all in, and Watson called all in immediately for 26,000.
Watson: for a wrap draw
Smith: for top set
The turn was brick for Watson, but the river gave him a straight and doubled him to 63,000. Smith was left with 15,000.
Justin Smith and Gary Benson are really going at it. Smith was down to just 5,000 after doubling Mike Watson and losing a 2-7 hand to David Bach. They were both seated at the same table after their previous one was broken, and the hostility continued. Finally, Smith had had enough. He stood up and pulled out four $25,000 plaques. "These are my chips," Smith said. "If you want to go once I bust out."
"Is that all you've got?" Benson responded, dropping four of his own $25,000 plaques on the felt. "Are you gonna get some more? If we're gonna play, we've gotta play for more than that."
They quieted down to play a Razz hand. Smith tripled through Benson and Derek Cheung and put his plaques back in his pocket.
With Andrew Pantling falling from one of the chip leaders to out during a few hands of 2-7 Triple Draw, the tournament is down to two tables of six. This is what the new tables look like.
Table 1
Seat 1: Jan Suchanek
Seat 2: Eli Elezra
Seat 3: Robert Campbell
Seat 4: David Bach
Seat 5: Andy Bloch
Seat 6: Mike Watson
Table 2
Seat 1: Maria Ho
Seat 2: Justin Smith
Seat 3: Joseph Serock
Seat 4: Gary Benson
Seat 5: Joel Ettedgi
Seat 6: Derek Cheung
Jan Suchanek fell to his tournament death in a limit hand against Andy Bloch. Andy tabled a pair of jacks on the river, and that was good enough to eliminate Suchanek.
Derek Cheung has just managed to double-up his short stack through Gary Benson when Cheung put his tournament life on the line holding against Benson's .
The board ran out , the turn card giving Cheung the straight and keeping him alive.
Joel Ettedgi check-raised Maria Ho on fifth street, and she put him all in for less than a full bet more. Ho had tens and nines by the end of it all, and Ettedgi missed his low draw and never had much of a shot at making a high hand. He hit the rail unhappily, while Maria padded her growing tower of chips.
