Score One for Johnson

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Cash-game pro and former poker blogger Adam Johnson is making himself comfortable at the feature table. He opened to 500 from the hijack, and the button three-bet to 1,600. Johnson called, then checked the {10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop. His opponent checked behind. The {10-Diamonds} on the turn paired the board and put a diamond flush out there. Johnson bet 2,800. His opponent got the bet he wanted and raised to 6,000. Johnson called. The {a-Diamonds} on the river scared both players. Johnson checked, and with a shrug, the button turned up his black kings. Johnson showed {j-Spades}{10-Spades} to take the pot. He's up to 28,000.

Tezay Finds Two-Outer

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

With a raise to 600 and a call ahead of him, Aytunc Tezay pushed his last 9,500 into the pot from the button.

The original raiser made the call as the cold-caller kicked his cards to the muck to see each player's holdings tabled.

Tezay: {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}

The board was spread {J-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} . . . {6-Hearts} to see Tezay spike a two-outer to stay alive and sit with his starting stack.

Top Top Double for Mortensen

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante
Carlos Mortensen
Carlos Mortensen

Full Tilt Poker Red Pro Carlos Mortensen entered the pot from early position with a raise to 600.

After finding two callers to see a {K-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop fall, Mortensen continued for 1,000 only to have the big blind check-raise to 2,000. Mortensen responded by moving al in for roughly 8,500 with the big blind making the call.

Mortensen: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}
Opponetn: {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}

With Mortensen in dominating shape, the {8-Diamonds} and {5-Hearts} on the turn and river would ensure that the 2001 WSOP Champion doubled through to 19,100.

Sunday Grinding with Van Marcus

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Obviously there are plenty of pros Down Under for the 2011 Aussie Millions. While most of them are using temporary grind stations, I decided to check out the more permanent grind station of Melbourne resident, and Full Tilt Poker Red Pro Van "Sirens" Marcus. I even got to go for a ride in his fire-engine red Ferrari - you know, the one that was stolen last year.

PokerNews Strategy's "MacDaddy34" Takes a Nice Pot

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

After a player limped in from under the gun, Evan "MacDaddy34" Panesis raised from the hijack seat to 900. Richard Willson reraised from the small blind and made it 2,200. The limper folded before action went back to Panesis. A strategy pro from PokerNews Strategy, Panesis reraised to 6,650. Wilson made the call and would have to play out of position from here on out in the hand.

The flop came down {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and Wilson checked. Panesis checked behind and for now the pot wouldn't get any larger despite some aggressive preflop action. The turn card was the {4-Diamonds} and added a second diamond to the board. Wilson checked and Panesis checked behind.

The river completed the board with the {10-Diamonds} to bring in a backdoor flush draw and also complete some straight draws. Wilson was first and tanked for a bit before checking. Panesis also tanked, but he didn't check. Panesis fired 7,000 and Wilson made the call.

Panesis was the beneficiary of those backdoor diamonds as he tabled the {J-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a flush. Wilson mucked his hand and lost the pot. Panesis stacked his chips and now has 57,000 in his stack.

As mentioned before, Panesis is one of our pros at PokerNews Strategy, which is currently running a special sign-up promotion for the Aussie Millions. Griffin Straightens Out Pickering

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante
Gavin Griffin looking the goods at the moment
Gavin Griffin looking the goods at the moment

On a flop of {6-Clubs}{4-Spades}{7-Spades}, Jamie Pickering fired out a bet of 2,500 with Gavin Griffin check-calling from under the gun as the {10-Hearts} rolled off on the turn.

Both players checked before the {2-Clubs} completed the board as Griffin took the lead with a 6,500-chip bet.

Pickering mulled over his decision for a few moments before making the call.

Griffin tabled his {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for the nuts to claim the pot and move to 44,000 as Pickering folded and slipped to 11,500 in chips.

This is the second time today that Griffin has made the nut straight against Pickering to win a nice pot. Earlier, Griffin rivered broadway after firing away on all streets with Pickering paying him off on the end.

Trips for Kinkade

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Grant Levy opened to 450 from middle position and Jay Kinkade and the big blind made the call to see a {A-Spades}{7-Spades}{A-Hearts} flop fall.

The action was checked to Kinkade in the cutoff who opted to fire out a bet 700 with only the big blind making the call.

As the turn landed the {10-Diamonds}, Kinkade continued for 2,205 after his opponent checked, and once he made the call and the river landed the {5-Spades}, both players checked.

The big blind tabled his {A-Clubs}{3-Hearts} for trips, but it would be Kinkade's {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} for a better set of trips that would see him earn the pot and move to roughly 16,000 in chips.

Glazier Can't Dodge Bullets

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Jackie Glazier, Joe Hachem, and Ryan Bochorsky saw a raised flop three-handed. It fell {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}, and Glazier checked in the small blind. From late position, Bochorsky bet 1,100, and Hachem flatted on the button. Action back to her, Glazier raised to 3,500. Bochorsky immediately moved all in for his 7,600.

Hachem asked to see Glazier's stack before furrowing his brow and pitching his cards to the dealer. Glazier called the extra 4,100 and showed {j-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for a naked flush draw. Bochorsky would need to dodge another club to double up with his {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}. The {8-Hearts} on the turn gave Glazier a pair and some extra outs, but the {9-Hearts} river was a brick. She tapped the table and paid Bochorsky, dropping below starting stack to 16,500.

Nelson Gives It Up

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

From the button, 2006 Aussie Millions champion Lee Nelson raised to 525. The small blind three-bet to 1,200 and the big blind called. Nelson also called to see the flop.

The flop came down {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades} and the small blind fired 2,000. After the big blind folded, Nelson made the call.

The turn brought the {10-Diamonds} and the small blind bet 5,000. He had 4,425 behind and Nelson studied the situation for a bit. Eventually, Nelson gave it up and cut his losses. He's on 24,000 now.

Assadourian Surges with Better Kicker

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante
Eric Assadourian
Eric Assadourian

On a flop of {4-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades}, Roland de Wolfe checked from out of the small blind before Michael Pedley tossed in a bet of 600.

Eric Assadourian jacked up the price to 1,500 as de Wolfe got out of this Australian battle as Pedley made the call.

When the turn landed the {2-Diamonds}, Pedley took the lead again with a 2,300-chip bet which Assadourian called as the {4-Clubs} completed the board.

Pedley paused for a few moments before making it 3,000 to go as Assadourian again made the call.

Pedley tabled his {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for two-pair, but it would be Assadourian's same two-pair with {A-Spades}{8-Spades}, but a better kicker, to see the 2006 Melbourne Poker Championships winner collect the pot to move to 31,000 as Pedley slipped back down to 18,500.
