Event #9: Aussie Millions Main Event

Day 1b Started

Flight Two Is Here

Welcome back to the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia for Day 1b of the 2011 Aussie Millions Main Event!

A bumper field of 238 players took to the felt yesterday with just over a third managing to bag and tag their chips after a long and intense day battling it out on the green felt of the Crown Poker Room.

Today shouldn't be much different. Although slightly fewer players are expected to take to this particular flight, there are still plenty of notable professional players and tournament novices currently registering.

Five-time WSOP bracelet winner sometime-Australian Jeffrey Lisandro and Mel Judah have just bought their ticket for today's flight while notable Full Tilt Poker members Gus Hansen, Chris Ferguson, Annette Obrestad, Scott Montgomery, Van Marcus, Matthew Jarvis and Peter Jetten are just a few of those that may lure a strong rail.

For the locals, Joe and Tony Hachem, alongside reigning champion Tyron Krost have yet to make an appearance in the main event as many are hoping to replicate Krost's and the now eliminated Stewart Scott's efforts of seeing a home grown winner crowned for the third successive year.

The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will again be on the felt providing the best coverage possible, so make sure to stay tuned right here from 12:30 P.M. EST for all the live action from Day 1b of the Aussie Millions Main Event!

Yesterday we kicked off with a stirring video and a mini-rock concert. Today, the fanfare was gone. Instead, the tournament director said, "Let's get this started," and with that, cards are in the air for Day 1b!

Although it's still relatively early in today's tournament, some interesting starting tables have been spotted.

Over on table thirty-three, we find Jackie Glazier, Mel Judah, Chris Ferguson and Joe Hachem, while over on table twelve we have spotted Lee Nelson, Neil Channing, Annette Obrestad, Andrew Scarf and Casey Kastle.

Table twenty-two sees the beautiful Maya Antonius seated with Sam Higgs, Tim Marsters, Graeme Putt and Andy Bloch.

Nuts for Savage

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

On one of the first hands of the day, Ben Savage - holding his {A-Clubs}{4-Clubs} - saw three clubs land on the flop.

He and his opponent exchanged bets with 4,000 going in on the river as Savage's nut flush bested his opponent's {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}.

After the hand, the table was amazed at how more more money didn't enter the pot.

Hachem Not Fooled

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Joe Hachem was one of four players who limped their way to an {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop. All four checked to get to the cheap {4-Diamonds} turn. The big blind checked again, and a player behind him followed suit. Then a player in middle position bet 200. Hachem made it 700, and after two quick folds, action was back on the bettor. He three-bet to 1,500, and Hachem elected to flat. The river brought the {9-Spades}. His opponent fired out 1,700. Hachem wasn't buying it and made the call. His opponent didn't even bother to turn over his hand and sent it straight into the muck. Joe moved up to 23,500 without having to show a card.
