There was a very special presentation at the Official Welcome Party as the 2012 Australian Poker Hall of Fame inductees were finally announced!
We came to Melanie Weisner's table with a flop being dealt and Weisner in the hand against Busra Kaluntakasuwun. Weisner led for 3,100 and Kaluntakasuwun then popped it to 8,100. A call from Weisner saw the hit the turn.
Weisner again check-called on the turn, this time when Kaluntakasuwun bet 9,000. The completed the board and Weisner again checked and so too did her opponent.
Kaluntakasuwun opened up her , not good enough for Weisner's as a pot was raked Weisner's way.

EPT Copenhagen winner Michael Tureniec had started the day off with some profit but just lost most of it in an interesting pot. The Swede raised to 2,100 from early position and he got two callers. The flop came down and after the big blind checked, Tureniec bet 3,600 and he got called by the opponent who was in position.
The turn was the and Tureniec opted to check-call the 4,800 bet. On the river the fourth spade appeared when the popped up. Tureniec checked again and his opponent tanked for a good minute. Then he checked and said, "I got the queen high flush". Tureniec re-checked his cards and mucked as his opponent turned over . Dominik Nitsche seemed amazed by this play and pulled out some weird looks as he was staring at the board. The table remained silent as Tureniec re-counted his stack which came down to 42,000.
We don't know what Tureniec had but his losses were held to a minimum in this hand.

Pat Dillon lost a couple of pots early but is now back around where he started the day. We came to his table on the river with a board showing and Dillon in the hand with two opponents.
Dillon was first to act and led for 10,100 which was about half the pot. One player quickly got away, while the other tank-called. When Dillon turned over his , the two pair was enough to send his opponent's cards into the muck and take down the hand.

That's what Tony G just said when we asked him about his stack. The G started today with 74,000 chips, and won five big pots already. "He flops a set every hand", one of his table mates jokingly said as Tony took another sip of his tea while getting a massage.
So to all you good players: You should be around 140,000 chips at this point in the tournament. Why? Because The G said so!

Jamie Rosen is into six figures after letting Sean O'Reilly value town himself.
O'Reilly raised to 2,600 from mid position and Rosen called from the button along with Gareth Walker in the small blind. O'Reilly's 3,000 c-bet on the flop was only called by Rosen. Rosen also called a 4,000 bet on the the turn to head to the river. O'Reilly had another bullet in him, for 10,500 and Rosen threw in a 100 denomination chips and opened up .
"Oh, you called?" asked O'Reilly. Rosen nodded and O'Reilly passed. Chris Cockburn questioned Rosen on his calling technique, but I think the American was so sure he was ahead, he just wanted to speed up the game.

Annette Obrestad got her stack of 27,500 all in preflop and was flipping against Elton Tsang.
Showdown

Tsang |
It was a classic race, but Obrstad needed to catch. The was just what she had in mind as it gave her top-two pair. Neither the turn nor river changed a thing and Obrestad doubled to nearly 60K.
