Big Stacks Emerge

Will he Nguyen?
Will he Nguyen?
Since the dinner break, a few big stacks have started to emerge, in particular Scotty Nguyen who appears to have the chip lead with 79,200. Also going strong is Alain Roy with 65,000, the Frenchman on his way to proving that his recent Partouche Tour victory in Cannes was no fluke.

Bullets Misfire

Peeking down at {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}, Soren Kongsgaard will have been delighted to see a short-stack push all in from UTG for 3,800 and naturally slid his remaining stack over the line. With no further action, Kongsgaard found himself up against {9-Spades}{9-Hearts} and looking to dodge a set. But although no nines emerged, a backdoor straight did, the board coming {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{10-Spades} to deliver the Dane an eye-watering low blow. To his credit, he took it with a smile, and swiftly went back to nurturing his now 10,000 stack.

Moorman Floats Ivey

Chris Moorman raised it up preflop from late position with {Q-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Phil Ivey defended his big blind. On the {A-?}{2-?}{3-?} flop, Ivey checked, Moorman bet 1,300, Ivey made it 3,000 and Moorman called. On the nine turn, Moorman took it down with a bet of 3,300. Moorman has taken a hit or two since and is now struggling with 7,400.

Ladowsky Lays it Down

I didn't catch the initial bet, but the board read {9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts}{J-Hearts} and Steve Ladowsky had just raised the river to to 6,000, only for his opponent to bump it up to 11,000. After a long dwell, Ladowsky conceded the hand, and as such dropped to 20,000 in chips.
