Langmann's Nines Take a Chunk Out of Deeb

Deeb: hasn't removed hood all tournament
Deeb: hasn't removed hood all tournament
Florian Langmann, after briefly taking the chip lead, hasn't dropped back from the top stacks all day. His latest pot comes from Shaun Deeb, who reraised him in the cutoff preflop. Langmann called.

They both checked the {10-Spades} {A-Spades} {3-Clubs} flop. Langmann bet 6,100 on the {9-Clubs} turn (you see where this is going?), Deeb called, and likewise he bet (somewhere around 15,000) on the {6-Hearts} river. Deeb made the call, but mucked when he saw Langmann's {9-Spades} {9-Diamonds}.

Building Bloch

Bloch overtakes a declining Demjan
Bloch overtakes a declining Demjan
Andy Bloch is the new chip leader with 212,000. I believe he was responsible for busting Phil Ivey, who was the latest casualty.

Other counts:

John Juanda - 18,100
David Eldar - 60,000
Elky - 92,800
Ilari Sahamies - 145,000
Johan van Til - 82,000
Ruben Visser - 21,000

Table Break

A few more players have bitten the dust in the first half of this 7th level (that makes it sound like some kind of poker purgatory, which may be supported by the busted):

Alexander Kostritsyn
Gus Hansen
Lex Veldhuis
Markus Golser (he fourbet shoved on the small blind from the button but ran smack into aces).

Greenstein Wakes Up

Greenstein: has eye on you
Greenstein: has eye on you
Barry Greenstein, hovering around the 35,000 mark, just picked up a little pot raising to 2,400 preflop and was called by Vanessa Rousso in position, as well as the big blind. Checked to him on the {10-Spades} {K-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} flop, he bet 5,000, and both his opponents passed quickly.

Dwyer Tumbled; Devilfish Takes His Seat

Ulliott: devilish
Ulliott: devilish
John Dwyer has been eliminated, and Hull's own Dave Ulliott has taken his place. A short stack too, he just took a few chips from the erstwhile leader Sandor Demjan like this:

Devilfish saw a threeway flop in position: {9-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}. The preflop raiser checked, Demjan bet 16k. Devilfish said without malice, "F***" and moved all in for 16k on top. Then came the chat, "Have a look," he said, and slid his hand toward Demjan. "Put it in the bin and have a look. I got the best hand."

Demjan passed, and Devilfish showed him {A-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} for top pair.

Eastgate - Double Double

Eastgate: down but not out
Eastgate: down but not out
Peter Eastgate was knocked to just 5,900 after a big threeway coup that rocketed Andrew Feldman up in chips. Feldman got it in against Eastgate and Sandor Demjan with a straight and flush draw (the straight hit on the river).

So, back to the double ups: Eastgate instantly moved all in and Sandor Demjan called on the button. {K-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} for Eastgate vs. {Q-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} for Demjan. The flop of {3-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} raised some eyebrows of sympathy, but Eastgate spiked a {K-Hearts}.

The next hand, his 14,400 was in again, this time racing {K-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} against his opponent's {6-Spades} {6-Diamonds}. This time he received two kings, and suddenly it looks like he might not be going home before the end of play today.

Hero to Zero

In what has been a real rollercoaster for him, (and everyone playing with him) businessman and poker enthusiast (I only know what I read on Google) Sandor Demjan has pretty much been felted. At one point he was nearing 200k.

After doubling up short stacks several times, the final chunk came out of his stack and went to a back-from -the-dead Peter Eastgate, whose {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades} saw him double yet again through Demjan. Eastgate is now up to 90k!

Now Demjan will have to perform the same magic trick as the WSOP champ to have any hope of coming back tomorrow.
