No Gus

Whatever was said earlier, forget about it because Gus Hansen is not here. Rumors had spread that he was in the field today and his name even appeared on the entrant list prior to the start of action. We've yet to spot him down on the tournament floor all day long, in the casino, or even in the hotel.

Van Den Berg Picks Up Three Ladies

Thierry Van Den Berg
Thierry Van Den Berg
We caught up with this hand a bit late, but here's what we know. On a board showing {3-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {5-Hearts}, Thierry Van Den Berg got all 11,400 of his remaining chips into a pot of more than 30,000. Jeremie Zawadzki had the covering stack, and he tabled {K-?} {K-?}. Van Den Berg was in trouble, all in with his {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}.

Salvation would come, though, as the dealer ripped the {Q-Clubs} off on the river to improve the Team PokerStars Pro to the winning trip queens. Zawadzki slammed the felt with his fist and walked away as Van Den Berg tried to justify his actions to the table.

"I knew I was in trouble," he said, "but I had to pay 11,000 for 70,000. I have to go all in." It wasn't quite 70,000, but Van Den Berg had a valid point. "It's really unlucky for him, but I had to go all in. I never suck out either. You can look at all the blogs. If you can find a hand where I sucked out, I'll pay your next buyin."

Van Den Berg has doubled his way up to about 60,000 courtesy of that two-outer on the river.

Total Players

Registration is over and Day 1b has 115 players added to the field. That makes for 203 total entrants, slightly less than last year's 217. We'll be sure to post all of the payout information once it's received.

Langmann Surprised

Florian Langmann
Florian Langmann
Action was checked to Florian Langmann on a board of {10-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} by Aurelien Gallen. The German member of Team PokerStars PRO fired a bet of 5,000 into the pot. Gallen made the call.

The river completed the board with the {K-Diamonds}, adding a fourth diamond to the board. Both players checked.

"You win." announced Langmann, to which Gallen tabled {8-Diamonds} {6-Spades}. "Well, I didn't think you'd win with that!" he exclaimed after seeing Gallen's hand.

Langmann is down to 21,000 chips while Gallen is up to 50,000.

Lacay Losing More

Things not going well for Lacay thus far
Things not going well for Lacay thus far
The flop was {J-Spades} {7-Clubs} {2-Spades} when the first player checked to Ludovic Lacay. Lacay fired 1,200 and was called by Georgios Souvorov. Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and the first player folded, leaving the heads-up action for the turn.

The turn brought the {8-Diamonds} and Lacay fired again, for 2,800 this time. Souvorov made the call.

The river was the {7-Hearts}. Lacay stuck out another bet, totaling 5,800. Souvorov stuck around and made the call. Lacay tabled {K-Spades} {3-Spades} and Souvorov showed {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} to scoop the pot. Lacay is down to 11,000 chips.
