Lodden Loses it All

Johnny Lodden
Johnny Lodden

Johnny Lodden has a habit of making the last two tables of an EPT or falling just short if the money. Unfortunately the Team PokerStars Pro endured the latter of the two at this event.

He had apparently been involved in a lot of hands today, losing most of them, before he three-bet his last 19,300 all-in. Fellow Norwegian Helge Stjernvang, who had already won a pot off Lodden, made the call after he had opened.

Lodden: {a-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Stjernvang: {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

The board ran {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} to make Stjernvang a straight. It hurts more somehow when it comes on the river.

Zeev Tangles With Petersen

Team PokerStars Pro Online Mickey Petersen opened to 4,500 from under the gun and Malki Yaron Zeev, to his immediate left, snap-called. Nobody else wanted to play with this duo so it was heads-up to the {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop.

Petersen continued with a bet of 5,000, a single blue chip, and Zeev instantly called. The turn was the {2-Spades} and Petersen slowed down and checked. Zeev reached for chips and and has he grasped them Petersen flicked his cards towards the dealer.

Sippel Stacked

Axel Sippel may have started with over 90,000 chips but he is now on the sidelines after a clash with Kalle Niemi left him with no chips.

Niemi opened to 5,000 from the cutoff and the action folded to Sippel in the big blind. He announced he was all in for around 32,000 (so he obviously lost some chips in a previous hand) and Niemi called. Niemi turned over {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Sippel {A-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. The board ran out {10-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and Sippel was eliminated.

Tureniec Singles Out Bogaert For a Spot of Light Three Betting

The Champ is still in
The Champ is still in

Nick Bogaert raised to 5,000, in early position, off a stack of around 35 big blinds. Michael Tureniec was in the hijack seat and he three-bet to 12,200 when the action folded around to him and the action folded back around to Bogaert. Bogaert decided to peel one off - out of position - and maybe it wasn't the greatest idea.

Flop: {Q-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {5-Spades}

Both players checked.

Turn: {6-Hearts}

Bogaert checked and Tureniec bet 14,600, a bet that was called by Bogaert.

River: {A-Diamonds}

Both players checked and Tureniec was forced to show the chip busting {Q-Clubs} {3-Hearts} - showing the table that he had singled out Bogaert - who had steam coming out of his ears as he mucked his hand.

"That's the nice thing about having a big stack," said one of the players on the table.

Fernandez Three-Bets Pagano

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Luca Pagno opened the betting from under the gun with a raise to 4,700. Despite Pagano's tight image Alejandro Sanchez Fernandez, sat in the seat next to him, three-bet to 11,000. The action folded back around to Pagano who stared at his opponent for 20 seconds before letting his hand go.

Four Bet Pot: Hnatow v Helppi

Juha Helppi now has 90,000 chips
Juha Helppi now has 90,000 chips

We caught the action just a few moments after the betting had started between Anthony Hnatow and Juha Helppi. Hnatow had opened up with a raise from middle position, Helppi had three-bet to 10,000, Hnatow had four-bet to 23,700 and Helppi had called.

The dealer gave the two players a flop of {6-Clubs} {2-Spades} {2-Hearts} and they both checked. On the turn they saw the {A-Diamonds} and Hnatow check-called a 21,000 Helppi bet. On the river there was the {5-Spades} and this time Hnatow took the betting lead for 37,500. Helppi had 90,000 behind and after several peeks at his cards he decided to fold and Hnatow won the pot, taking him to over 200,000 for the first time in this tournament.

Short Stacks Go to War

Magnus Hansen and Lupu Alexandru were the two shorts stacks at their table and there was only room for one of them in this tournament.

The action folded to Alexandru in the cut-off and he opened shoved for 31,000. Hansen was in the small blind, asked for a count of his opponent's stack, and moved all-in for a few thousand more. The big blind folded to leave it heads up.

Alexandru: {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Hansen: {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}

The board ran {5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades} to see the local man survive.

The Changing Tides of Table 35

There seems to have been a lot of chips exchanging hands on Table 35. Simon Ravnsbaek has just lost a big pot to Stig Christensen. Christensen was holding pocket aces in a three-bet pot versus Ravnsbaek who was holding ace-queen. A queen on the turn causing some damage to Ravnsbaek who now has 195,000 chips. Christensen on the other hand has 430,000 chips.

Two other players who have banged heads, resulting in a transference of chips, are Keld Volquardsen and Juha Lauttamus. We caught a board of {K-Clubs} {J-Spades} {4-Spades} {3-Spades} {9-Hearts} with a mountain of chips in the middle. Volquardsen checked to Lauttamus who moved all in and Volquardsen folded. Lauttamus now has 300,000 chips and Volquardsen has been reduced to 155,000

Hansen and Varonen Clash Twice In Two hands,

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Bjarke Hansen and Lauri Varonen have just clashed twice in two hands in late position battles.

Hansen opened to 4,400 from the cutoff only to fold when Varonen three-bet to 12,200. The very next hand Hansen tried his luck again, making it 4,400 from the hijack seat and Varonen three-bet again; once more making it 12,200. This time, instead of folding, Hansen moved all-in for around 82,000 and Varonen quickly got out of the way.
