Selbst Wins Big Pot Before Break

Vanessa Selbst on the brink of victory
Vanessa Selbst on the brink of victory

Vladimir Troyanovskiy opened to 100,000 on the button with the {q-Diamonds} and an unknown card, Vanessa Selbst three-bet to 275,000 with {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}, and Troyanovskiy called. The dealer fanned {k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, giving Selbst the nuts, and she checked. Troyanovskiy led out for 250,000, and Selbst just called.

The turn was the {4-Clubs}, and Selbst opted to lead out for 425,000. Troyanovskiy called.

At this point on the live stream, James Hartigan informed the audience that Troyanovskiy had a king.

The river was the {a-Hearts}, Selbst led for 1.275 million, and Troyanovskiy furrowed his brow. He thought for more no than 30 seconds, then called.

Selbst tabled the winner, raked in the massive pot, and now has nearly 90 percent of the chips in play.

The players are now on a 30-minute break. Stay tuned for the conclusion of the

Selbst Tries for Thin Value

Vladimir Troyanovskiy raised to 100,000 on the button holding {A-Clubs}{5-Spades}, Vanessa Selbst called from the big blind with {J-Clubs}{7-Clubs}, and the flop came down {9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{7-Spades}, which both players checked. When the {9-Spades} turned, Troyanovskiy bet 100,000 and then folded when Selbst raised to 370,000.

Selbst Bets the Nut Low

Vanessa Selbst limped with {8-Hearts}{7-Spades} and Vladimir Troyanovskiy checked his option from the big blind with {4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. Troyanovskiy then check-called a small bet on the {3-Spades}{2-Spades}{A-Spades} flop, and both players checked the {6-Clubs} turn.

When the {4-Hearts} completed the board on the river, Troyanovskiy checked for a third time and then called when Selbst, who held the nut low, bet 160,000.

Pair of Fours > Pair of Deuces

Vanessa Selbst opened to 100,000 on the button with {j-Spades}{2-Spades}, Vladimir Troyanovskiy defended with the {q-Hearts} and an unknown card, and the dealer fanned {9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. Both players checked.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds}, Troyanovskiy led out for 100,000, and Selbst called.

The {8-Clubs} completed the board, and Troyanovskiy checked. Selbst checked behind. The Russian exposed his second card - the {4-Hearts} - and he won the pot.

Troyanovskiy Doubles Again

Vladimir Troyanovskiy raised to 100,000 on the button holding {A-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Vanessa Selbst called from the big blind with {K-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, bringing about a flop of {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}.

Selbst checked, Troyanovskiy continued with a bet of 100,000, and Selbst called with her pair of tens. Selbst then turned right around and moved all in when the {6-Diamonds} turn gave her the nut-flush draw, and Troyanovskiy called off for 1.165 million. Selbst needed either a ten, jack, king or diamond to win on the river, but she was left wanting as the harmless {2-Hearts} appeared.

Troyanovskiy Doubles

Vladimir Troyanovskiy shipped for 720,000 from the small blind and received a quick call from Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst, who could only roll her eyes upon discovering her {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades} was dominated by the {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} of Troyanovskiy.

The {2-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop wasn't helpful to Selbst, though the {A-Hearts} turn gave her a gutshot Broadway draw. Unfortunately for her, the {4-Clubs} wasn't it and Troyanovskiy doubled.

Troyanovskiy Correctly Folds Two Pair on the River

Vanessa Selbst min-raised to 100,000 with {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and Vladimir Troyanovskiy called from the big blind with {A-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. The latter then checked the {3-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop, and then check-raised to 250,000 when Selbst bet 100,000. The Team PokerStars Pro called and then Troyanovskiy slowed down with a check when he made two pair on the {A-Clubs} turn.

Selbst took the opportunity to bet 225,000, Troyanovskiy called, and the {5-Hearts} spiked on the river to give Selbst a straight. It was a bad time for Troyanovskiy to lead out, but he did so with a bet of 500,000. Selbst then announced, "All in," and Troyanovskiy's eyes shot up.

He scratched his head, looked back at his opponent and sat in heavy contemplation for several minutes. Eventually the Russian looked back at his hand and then let it go.
