The time has finally arrived at the 2023 PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague, and the chill in the air outside will be matched in the main poker room at the beautiful Hilton Prague.
Players will take their seat for the €5,300 EPT Main Event, looking to earn a place in EPT history. Action will begin at 12 p.m. local time and many of poker's biggest names are expected to take their shot at glory.
The most recent player to join the list of EPT champions is Gilles Simon, who took down the 2023 EPT Cyprus Main Event. Simon topped a field of 1,320 entrants to take home a career-defining trophy along with the first-place prize of $1,042,000.
Previous champions of this prestigious event in Prague include Hossein Ensan, who conquered a field of 1,044 entries back in 2015 to earn €754,510.

Day 1a will play a total of ten 60-minute levels, with breaks after every two hours and a 75-minute dinner break after Level 6. Action begins with blinds of 100/100 and a 100 big blind ante. Players will start with 30,000 chips and can reenter the tournament once across both opening flights.
Day 1b will run on Tuesday, December 12 with the same structure as today's flight. Late registration will remain open until the start of play on Day 2.

Level one of the main event saw Gerardus Englebert open to 600 and was three bet by Christos Argyriadis.
Both players checked the 9♦10♥K♥ flop and 8♣ hit the turn.
Argyriadis led out for 4,000 and Englebert made the call. The river came 9♠ and Englebert checked but was out of turn.
Argyriadis then fired 7,500 into the pot and Englebert made the fold.

The flop was A♥K♥3♣ and there was a little over 3,000 in the middle already when there was 1,000 in front of Niall Farrell who sat in the big blind. Maciej Plocki sat in the big blind and called the bet to see the J♠ on the turn.
Farrell took his time to count out a bet of 4,000 and he pushed his forward and after only a brief moment a quick fold by Plocki followed.

Christian Bertu opened to 300 from early position and found two callers.
The flop came 9♠10♠K♦ and Bertu continued for 1,100 and found only one caller in Karlo Banic.
Turn card was 4♠ and Bertu fired 3,000 with a snap call from Banic.
River came 5♣ and Bertu instantly bet big for 9,000 and after a short time Banic made the fold.

Action was heads up on a flop of 6♥9♦2♠ and Maciej Plocki leading out from the hijack for 700. Anthony Stumbo called to his left in the cutoff and the dealer turned over the 9♣ turn.
Both players checked to the 7♣ river, where Plocki fired again for 900. Stumbo took a moment before tossing his cards into the muck, with Plocki raking in the pot.
