The PokerStars European Poker Tour has returned to Paris for the second year running, this time at the Le Palais de Congres conference center, which provides a much bigger, more spacious and more impressive venue that is sure to provide an unmatched player experience.

The €1,100 France Poker Series Main Event continues today with Day 1c, the third of six starting flights, commencing at midday local time. Day 1d also runs today, starting at 6 p.m. local time.

The same event last year attracted 2,071 entries. Local player Alan Goasdoue defeated fellow Frenchman Jean-Luc Labryga in heads-up play to earn the €287,830 top prize. With additional starting flights running, those numbers could well be topped this year.

Entry into the FPS Main Event grants participants starting stacks of 30,000 chips. Blind levels commence at 100/100 with a 100 big blind ante. Late registration remains open until the start of Level 11 and players can take one entry per remaining flight.

Day 1a and Day 1b have already been completed, both concluding in the early hours of the morning. Fabian Niederreiter of Germany emerged as the overall chip leader with 776,000 chips and will be the player to beat for new entries looking to claim the top spot as the tournament progresses.

Paunescu Loses a Bunch Early On

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

"I win, queens no good," Ciprian Paunescu declared when the A9638 river was checked between him and Patrick Legrand. There were some 9,000 in the middle and Paunescu confidently rolled over the A5 for the top pair.

Legrand had a queen in the hand but it was the AQ, as the superior kicker won the pot for Legrand.

Lotepa Cannot Wait to Collect Pot

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

Christophe Lotepa bet the 863 flop for 1,600 and the 9 turn for 2,000, both of which was called by Vincent Lavollee. They checked the A river and Lotepa tabled the JJ to win the pot.

He could not even wait to drag in the chips and reached towards the middle of the table already before the dealer had pushed him the pot.
